Simply put, is there a way to remove the script that prevents "normal" (not through events) peace treaties between alliances?

I know about the "accept-all" cheat, this thread is not about it.

I honestly do not understand your question. Do you mean the surender events?

He is probably referring to the change Paradox made with some version - that makes members of any major alliance, allies, axis or comintern, unwilling to accept ANY peace.

I think it's hardcoded, meaning you can't mod it away. This "feature" did not exist in the early versions of HoI2 (can't remember if it was included with DD 1.0 or not).

So if you're not willing to play a really old version, I don't think you can change this. Anyone?

No, he means the inability to get a peace treaty between two major factions...i.e., a member of the Allies will NEVER (except by event or acceptall) make peace with a member of the Axis or Commintern.

EDIT: And no, there is no way to remove that.

Mostly correct. They will accept peace with a country that is not part of a major alliance.

Try the following

Make the Allies comprise of Just Hati
Make the Axis comprise of just the Dominican republic
Make the Comintern comprise of Just Cuba

Make a New 3rd Party Alliance of the UK & assoicated Satilites, The Commonwealth and France.
Make a Thrid Party Alliance of The Soviet Union, Tana Tuva & Mongolia

Now the "Major Alliances" will not longer be bound to the rules of the Alliance Tags

Edit: You will need to adjust events that are alliance specific so when the UK guarantees Polands independence Poland donesnt ally with Hati.

Unless a power is invited to join one of the alliances they are no longer merged into existing alliances when they are DOWed

EG Norway was in a separted war against Germany after Altmark
As was Belgum and Holland, thou they did eventually join the Uk's Alliance.

Since Italy offered Germany an Alliance after the fall of Paris She was the Alliance leader and thus after Barbarossa started in Sue for peace withthe soviets (germany knocking on Mosows doors) and the Sovets accepted.

Italy Also accepted peace for Yugoslavia, who then joined the Italy's Alliance and demanded/got her territory back (smart move :-0)

The South American Nations all DOWed Germany after the USE got involved and after a year or so all but Brazil (who had invaded Crete and Perisa) had signed a white peace.

The War with Perisa by the UK and Soviets ended in a white peace, not the notmal partition of the country. Thou that could be event.

I may try again with Germany Allied with Hungary at the start just to keep Germany as the Alliance Leader.

Other than that everthing ran normally. Italy lost in Africa.

I am running DD:A amnd it was cool to see the use of Amphi-assaults to open up extra fronts by the AI

I don't think the "leader" issue would be a problem in my games. After the tripartite pact, you don't have to accept the italian offer. Just improve the relations and you will soon have them accept your invitation to join YOUR alliance.

Then, if the diplomacy system obeys similar rules as in EU 2 (which i believe it does) each alliance member can leave the war if it is offered a good enough offer). I would like to see what would happen if you offered poland a "become my puppet" deal after conquering all provinces. I quess they would accept.

This opens new possibillities, since you don't have to ANNEX every nation you declare war against (e.g you don't have to annex and THEN liberate (damn that 5% beligerence penalty) Norway to make them your puppet). Even "redundant" diplomacy choices like "forced disarmament" will now have a reason to exist.

Think about it. I will certainly take a look myself.

The normal rules for Diplomacy are followed.

In the 2nd test run, Germany managed to puppet Belgium (after overrunning Her Eurpoean Holdings and annexing them with an event) This lead to Belgium Troops fighting the British & French in the Middle of Africa.

Norway was Puppeted by German the Day her Paras took her capital

I would advise, for those who aren't playing Germany and want to try this, to make Germany's ally not Hungary, who seems to use the Big Bad next to her as an excuse to reclaim old territories, but Bulgaria, who at the start is out of the way.

Ok, open the scenario file you wish to change with wordpad. Somewhere near the top you will see a list of existing alliances -major and minor.

Copy- paste one of the non-major alliances and
1.Choose a different "number"
2.Place within the brackets the tags of the countries you want to be members of this new alliance

Actually not true only a Human playing the leader of a major alliance will accept peace with those who are not part of a major alliance. IIRC the AI Axis for example will fight non aligned panama to the bitter end.

Really? :confused:

In the past I have been able to make peace as a minor member of an alliance with a minor member of another alliance. (ie as Australia I sued for peace with Hungary.......just to see if it was possible :rolleyes: ).

I had thought that it was only the alliance LEADERS that would not make peace with either one another or minor members of opposing alliances.

But that was in an earlier version of the game.......
