Removing a province from the HRE

but can you remove a province from the HRE, since there are no province decisions anymore and does it even matter if you have one, since there isn't any "Unlawful territory" anymore either ?

There is unlawful territory, in my Austrian game the Emperor forced me to let go of some Italian territory outside of the HRE.

So, it will be hard, to expand in the HRE again, except now you can make cores on them.
but what if the emperor ask for you to give them back to him, before you have gotten a core ?

and how will you now remove in from the empire ?

Its not the Emperor thats the problem, its aggressive expansion thats the problem. Expanding in Europe without cores equals ruining your reputation and getting a lynch mob to beat you into a bloody pulp, even if its just a single province in question. The Emperor will probably be too busy to deal with you, but your neighbours will give you a bad hair day.
