I don't know how much more beating my space bar can handle after I've been button smashing it in numerous, uncountable attempts to counteract the auto-unpause-function.

  1. The only time game should unpause is when I hit space or click =.
  2. Implement Message-pause-system as in HoI2 (Darkest Hour)/ HoI3. I like to play my game slow and in the words of Aerosmith I don't want to miss a thing.
Please sort this out ASAP Paradox!

My game dosnt automatically pause. Even if I have the option selected to pause on popups. So I have to sit there with my hand dangling above the space bar in cause something happens so I can pause it. Then I have to keep hitting it repeatedly when I click on the popups because the game will keep unpausing. Pretty annoying but this is hardly my main concern about the game right now.

There's a reason why the called it Hearts of Iron IV besides the fact that it's the fourth iteration.

It's because it seriously needs an IV.:D

Please, this has nothing to do with auto un-pause.

I don't want issues to get confused. The auto un-pause issue is not an issue only for grognards who are looking for HOI3.5. It's a quality of life change that affects all players. All of them.

Sorry. I just had a moment of pure frustration. Even pretending that this is an entirely new game, I'm still angry with it. The auto unpause is a symptom of a greater problem. Someone somewhere figured it was a good idea. Probably because some people playing previous HOI didn't know how to tailor their message settings and complained, so the developers probably did the auto unpause thinking it would keep the game flowing. Clearly, none of the people making this game actually play it, because the only message pop ups that they kept are THE VERY FREAKING ONES YOU NEED TO PAUSE THE GAME TO ADDRESS!!!!

To be clear... clicking "details" auto-pauses the game and brings up the National Focus screen. Clicking on OTHER news to clear it in order to be able to peruse the NF information UN-pauses the game. There's no reason for this. In SP especially, if I pause the game either automatically or manually, NOTHING should unpause it.
This is already another problem, as the game should have paused already without requiring you to click `details` first.

It tells you something about the PDX responsiveness to player requests to change things that we ( insert 'people who bought the game' here ) would like changed or put back into the game or just questions about certain game mechanics they simply ignore the whole thread or specific post.:mad:

I wholeheartedly disagree. PDS (what is the X in PDX?) responds to their players VASTLY more than the majority developers. You're a spoiled brat if you think otherwise. If they made a list of 100% of the popular requests in previous games and showed those requests that they either implemented or explained WHY they weren't implementing them... it'd be well over 90% of the list. Let's not pretend PDS always and completely ignores the community just because of this one MASSIVE design flaw still existing a whole 11 days after the game was released.

If you're able, I'd love to see a video of that. I know that when I get a NF completion, clicking OK makes the game continue and clicking details auto-pauses the game and brings up the NF screen. I should make a video of that happening just to confirm w/ you that it doesn't work that way for you. Maybe this evening if I remember, because I'm VERY interested if your game doesn't do it. Maybe you accidentally changed the pause settings. Maybe your game installed incorrectly. Maybe many things.

Please keep hyperbole out of this discussion so that, hopefully, PDS will take it more seriously. Reminds me of a thread where someone claimed that since the 2nd gen Japanese Battleship was called the Kongo, which was a pre-WW1 dreadnought, that was proof that PDS didn't bother to do any research.

That level of hyperbole is offensive, naive, and counterproductive. Sticking to actual facts would suit this discussion much better.

I won't lie... I'd prefer it too if given the choice. A lot of bugs are frustrating... this design flaw is infuriating.

I wouldn't mind that as well! While there are times when you might want to go w/out a National Focus for a while (if you're spending too much in terms of Political Points for example), the overwhelming majority of the time, you WANT the game to pause and give you a moment to read/think/decide.

Guys... overall, I *LOVE* this game. It saddens me that my post about a single issue has garnered so many responses and so many Likes. I just hope it aids an end result of them FIXING this.

And now, I'm off to play Japan!!! Or maybe make a video for DJ Jazzy Jeff!

So, just to clarify. The two buttons on the notification do two different things. Is it that you were clicking OK, or was clicking Details not auto-pausing the game? I'm honestly quite curious.

So, on your first point, apparently punctuation sent by my phone doesn't appear the same on yours. I see one place I should have used a comma instead of a period. So, mr English professor, please enlighten.

On your second point, this is entirely the level of hyperbole warranted by such a mistake. I became aware of the problem not even 30 minutes into messing around with the game. I cannot believe there is anyone else who has played this game who hasn't noticed this same issue. There are arguments that can and are being made concerning what should be micro or automated. Some players prefer one way or the other, but this has to be pretty universal. I can't imagine anyone agreeing that the game should unpause if a nation declares war on you.

Stop the name calling please.

PDS (or PDox et al) has heard everyone's loud complaints regarding the pause/message settings. Believe it or not, they do read and track bug reports and complaints about gameplay.

This was a design change too far. They had received a lot of complaints about the difficulty of the old system. They wanted to streamline the game and remove micro-management as much as possible. What they didn't consider was the majority of players who used to pause system to manage critical movement and to prevent the AI foolishness.

Expect a fast correction.

Stop the name calling please.

Maybe yonderboy should have considered who he was talking to. I'm the farthest thing from a spoiled brat. I came to Canada with my parents when I was 5 years old in 1952 with not much more than the clothes on our back from war ravaged Netherlands. It took a long time to get to where we were comfortable and no longer poor. So who is spoiled?

PDS is an an acronym for their official name.

As for the name-calling, my apologies. I was making a generalized statement, but I think we all know that responding in kind is not exactly the mature reponse to name-calling. Within the context of what I said, however, do you honestly and truly think that PDS, overall, has poor responsiveness to their players?

Labraidh is obviously a better example of how I think that hyperbole is a detriment to a legitimate complaint. And if you honestly think PDS isn't responsive, then either you're spoiled or you're fond of hyperbole. On the scale of responsive studios, PDS is one of the best and one of the most customer-friendly. As for your experiences outside of this forum, they're utterly, totally, and completely irrelevant. As are mine. The conversation was *only* about our views on PDS as a game developer.

PDS (or PDox et al) has heard everyone's loud complaints regarding the pause/message settings. Believe it or not, they do read and track bug reports and complaints about gameplay.

Expect a fast correction.

I think that MOST people realize the reality of PDS being a high-quality responsive developer, and we know that they are aware of this.

However, we've had our first hotfix and I know I'm not the only one who was surprised/shocked that this fix wasn't included. Nor have I seen an actual dev comment on this thread or any other. Thusly, this is how we give feedback.

I didn't make this post prior to the hotfix because I was, as you say, expecting a fast correction.

No correction means a new post because maybe PDS had this fix too low on their list of things to fix. 100 Likes will hopefully get their attention and make them say "oh crap, we need to increase the importance attached to this fix."
