Adult, I understand, since Byzantium is not set up to be ruled by children.
"Male", however, is needlessly punitive. Byzantium can elect female rulers, and if they can do this, why can't they form the guard?
Maybe there's a reason I'm not grasping here, but maybe there's just no reason.
