Seriously France really takes significantly less skill to conquer the world as then easy mode with ability to go back to earlier saves and as much cheating as possible including monarch points.

We have waited plenty of patches for France to be balanced; playing it is not an achievement ironman or otherwise unless there is a rebalance mod.

Um, no. France needs some event that ties min autonomy to 25ish % until they take their absolute monarchy decision. They were sort of like Ming IRL before Louis IX's reforms. Not nearly as bad, but similar.

That decision as it stands is OP. You can get a fairly advanced government early by, at most, 7 techs. That total 0.3 autonomy loss a month causes it to melt away. However, I think an autonomy floor to most nations until they have a more advanced government would be adequate.

Anyways, I disagree with the thought of removing achievements from exclusively from one nation even if it's played in Ironman. Anyways, France is by no means an instant win. While it can be easier than other nations to start if one knows what they're doing, it's very easy to let hubris get the better of you. That and the boost to Austria's and Castile's NI's, giving them earlier military boosts than France, can lead to a bad time if your start has them rival you.

Achievements are optional fluff - if you don't like them, ignore them. And yes, most achievements are easier on 'difficulty level: France' than if you choose to start as some weaker country. That's why there are also more challenging country-specific achievements.

In SP, you're better off setting yourself some challenges rather than relying on an achievement system. That goes for any game, not just EU4.

When you start picking minor powers. There is not a single great power in 1444 that is hard to play.

Also seriously, Austria WC is easier than France WC right now just because Austria can pass seven reforms in the HRE in about 25 years or less.

I tend to usually go byzantine or not European so France came as a shock to me

Your idea would make at least one achievement impossible.

Get the three mountains achieve not then complain about WC being too easy.

Yes, inheritance not triggering is a substantial problem.

It will then take you 210 years instead of 170 to WC

Similarly, you can get achieves in easy mode with player bonuses, or in hard with AI bonuses. That's up to you to find which one you feel as an achievement.

They should just remove france from the map and replace it with an impassable black blob with text that says "thar be dragons" I'm sure that will please everyone.
