What do you think it means?I don't understand this thread. Is this supposed to be a good thing, or a bad thing, or what?
Thats interesting. Tell me this: Were these successes due to France having moved their equipment and manpower elsewhere? Such as the Belgium front. The maginot line was not a magical line, it could be breached given time, investment of troops and heavy artillery.
This is from WIKI-
"During the advance to the English Channel, the Germans overran France's border defence with Belgium and several Maginot Forts in the Maubeuge area, whilst the Luftwaffe simply flew over it. On 19 May, the German 16th Army successfully captured the isolated petit ouvrage La Ferte (southeast of Sedan) after conducting a deliberate assault by combat engineers backed up by heavy artillery. The entire French crew of 107 soldiers was killed during the action. On 14 June 1940, the day Paris fell, the German 1st Army went over to the offensive in "Operation Tiger" and attacked the Maginot Line between St. Avold and Saarbrücken. The Germans then broke through the fortification line as defending French forces retreated southward. In the following days, infantry divisions of the 1st Army attacked fortifications on each side of the penetration; successfully capturing four petits ouvrages. The 1st Army also conducted two attacks against the Maginot Line further to the east in northern Alsace. One attack successfully broke through a weak section of the line in the Vosges Mountains, but a second attack was stopped by the French defenders near Wissembourg. On 15 June, infantry divisions of the German 7th Army attacked across the Rhine River in Operation "Small Bear", penetrating the defences deep and capturing the cities of Colmar and Strasbourg."

I know. It is just a funny/interesting photo.Devs have already stated that it was an AI bug, and the programmer is already working fixing it(or maybe he already did)

Yes there seems to be less. HOI3 had 8 from the start but I believe had an extra province covering the front if you invaded Lux. So 9 total provinces with forts. Are there less provinces on the maginot line now than in hoi3? I count 6 in that ss. There are 8 in hoi3.
No. Not really, the French moved their "First-Class Divisions" out of Maginot but replaced them with the Reservists, this did mean the quality of troops and equipment decreased but not substantially, also numbers were nearly the same.
The Germans also had mostly reserve troops in Army Group C under von Leeb who were thought of as useless on the offensive, (the best troops had been given to Rundstedt and Army Group A).
Like i said before, it was not a MAGICAL line. Given time, thought, initiative, courage and of-course Heavy Artillery any fortification can be breached.
Well they did say that it was a bug which would be fixed soon. So don't worry, Germany won't be able to penetrate the Line. At least not without suffering tremendous casualties I imagine.Your wiki quote only tells us a big amount of troops can capture some small fortifications held by less troops with less equipement. The only exception being operation small bear. Well 3 days before the official surrender.
It is true it was not a magical line. Just like the german blitzkrieg isn't an unstoppable tsunami able to roll over everything because germans stronks. Anyway in paradox games, that's what blitzkrieg is, and thus that's also why the Maginot line is a Magical unpenetrable line. To give at least some interest in game. Cause if Germany which has far more troops than it really have in HoI games can on top of that pierce through fortifications easily, it would be the same as no more allowing playing countries like France. Heck, do you want to get steamrolled 'cause you're overly nerfed, or get steamrolled 'cause your opponent is overly buffed ? Please chose and play. Would not be interesting at all.

Success was due to France not having reserves to commit in timely manner.Thats interesting. Tell me this: Were these successes due to France having moved their equipment and manpower elsewhere? Such as the Belgium front.
No. WW2 has shown remarkable decrease in power of fortification, plenty of well prepared defensive lines were successfully assaulted without massive casualties of attacking force.Your wiki quote only tells us a big amount of troops can capture some small fortifications held by less troops with less equipement. The only exception being operation small bear. Well 3 days before the official surrender.

Gee you started work early today?Yea, I said it in some other thread but I can't find it now so. It was indeed just a bug that already was being worked on and it was also fixed later on Wednesday.
