Say your reformed or orthodox can you spread your religion in the HRE via conversion wars to the extent you can try to have it enforced as the main religion? And could you start a 3 way war where there are 3 religions vying for supremacy?

If your capital is in europe, you can join either side in the religious hre war. There're three outcomes: catholic or protestant as official religion or a 'white peace' where in any christian religion is accepted, so you can be an orthodox or coptic emperor but can't have them as only official religion.
