So i'm in the 16th century in a mp game, Protestantism and Reformation has kicked in.
Initially I got the "Religious Turmoil" event when my provinces were over 75% Catholic, it'd now be closer to around 50%.

This lasts until 1821 (endgame) and I noticed that it doesn't appear to be a triggered modifier, so my question is this:

What are my options for getting rid of Religious Turmoil??

All help appreciated. :)

Convert Protestant and Reformed provinces back to Catholicism with missionaries until each of those heretical faiths are present in fewer than 20% of your provinces, and wait a couple of months. If you are highly Innovative this is going to be... tiresome.

You can avoid it happening in the first place either by enacting the Ecumenism NI before it happens, or by being sufficiently religiously tyrannical (high Narrowmindedness and the Church Attendance Duty, Unam Sanctam, and/or Divine Supremacy NIs) that the province-flipping events aren't firing very often in the first place.

According to Wiki, it also won't fire if you get the Counter-Reformation religious decision. Unfortunately, I don't quite understand how to make the "Embrace the Counter-Reformation" appear. Maybe someone can explain it to me?

Also, the wiki says you have to be a "Major Nation". Not sure what constitutes a Major Nation.

Cheers Kurblius.

If it's already fired I assume embracing the counter reformation won't reverse the decision? from my experience the Counter-Reformation is a religious decision Catholic nations get (roughly) a year after the reformed religion enters the scene.

Major nations is determined by having a lot of provinces (i'm guessing).

One thing I was curious about with the counter-reformation, I embrace that decision have I then removed the option of converting to either protestantism or reformed??

Anyone know if embracing the Ecumenism NI will remove my religious turmoil after it's already been activated??
From my reading the events, it appears that it will not. (If I thought it would, I'd have said so :) )
