LOL granada took out spain?? I wish I had your problem.. Spain is a monster here and has carved a big chunk out of france, taken out the teutonic knights (yes it is in the baltic),conquered 90% of the Americas and grabbed naples, Sicily and every other island not nailed down in the Med.. did I forget to mention a bit of ireland too.. And I'm NOT spain... waaaahhh

Hmm. Could you do me a favor?

Look in the 'Db' directory of Europa Universalis and open revolt.txt (Word, Wordpad, Notepad... any text editor will do). Find the Ukraine entry (searching for UKR should do the trick). It should look like this:

UKR = {
date = { day = 1 month = january year = 1492 }
expirydate = { day = 31 month = december year = 1792 }
minimum = {295 }
extra = {460 461 462}
capital = 295
group = orthodox
}

See if your entry is different from mine. Be especially careful to look at 'capital'.

BTW, remember to NOT save the file after you are done with it.

Good luck!!

Spain certainly can be fun to play! You can build up trade posts and colonies, get a strong economy, and pick and choose your fights, to a point. Keep your badboy rate down, maybe by mostly annexing North African and Moslem nations, and a province here and there in wars in Europe and you may be able to coast along. However, be careful of colonial wars - you have to station ample forces in your overseas areas to prevent disaster.

RE Ukraine and religion

Nope I checked. I have the same set up for Ukraine. However in teh save file it is
all nice and sunni. To heck with it. I changed the save file so the game doesnt feel quite
as preposterous. Now I shall get back to fighting the Incas in North Africa
