Religious peace in the hre should remove heretic prince penalty

If religious peace is signed and princes can be any religion they want the hre should no longer suffer imperial authority loss from it. I dont even know what are the heretic religions, because there is no dominant faith. Also because of the religious peace there is no longer a cb against other religions inside the hre and the emperor cant enforce religion either. This means you cant even purge the "heretics" anymore.

I dont know why this didnt get removed with the latest dlc, the only religions that should be considered heretic after religious peace should be non-christian faiths.

The only problem I can see with this is that it would cause IA gain to grow very quickly, which would make the historical outcome (i.e. an increasingly decentralised and weakened Emperor/Empire) unlikely, as they could just pass whatever they want.

I agree with the suggestion that there shouldn't be a heretic prince modifier, but I think a different modifier should be added to compensate, e.g. -50% IA gain, or something.

Religious peace means that HRE has failed to unify. Basically, it means the Emperor is not even able to protect the religious freedom of his own faith in his own vassals' lands. (Looking at it from the emperor's perspective) In game, the Peace of Westphalia not about religious freedom per say, but the right of individual princes (rather the Emperor and Diet) to determine religious policy within their own land. In that sense, it decentralizes the empire to point that it can not plausibly be internally reunified, due to mutually incompatible state churches.

That means the decentralisation of the empire prevents it to decentralise? If this is about unification it could instead give a modifier making it extremely unlikely for princes to vote for centralisation. Or make it in other ways harder to take the centralisation path.
In it current form it is a completely useless game mechanic.

Indeed, religious peace is meant as a defeat, or a Phyrric victory for the emperor. It prevents the emperor from enforcing his religion, and that's what happened historically. In game, it is the result of a white peace in the league war. I see no reason to turn it into an advantage for the HRE. Unifying the HRE should be difficult.

Why not have religious peace lead to the acceptance of Protestant and Catholic but still treating Reformed as heretic (Reformed could be accepted later through expanding the imperial incident "The Reformers Protest"). It could also disable the centralisation path of imperial reforms. This would prevent imperial authority from shooting up instantly after the league war, but it would reduce the super negative imperial authority modifier that the emperor had pre-war (the problem isn't totally solved, but the Peace of Augsburg "stopped the bleeding"). With no official faith, it makes sense that the only path an emperor could take is the decentralized one.

well you could do that but lock the centralised path of the hre, I mean the region was very rich for most parts compared to many parts of europe and you would gain some minor buffs (maybe lock the stupid vasall swarm cb I mean it is very funny but makes 0 sense)

The decentralized path turns the HRE into a proto-EU of sorts. While it is called the "decentralized" path, it does involve passing imperial reforms, and increasing the power of the Emperor and diet at the expense of the princes. It is just called "decentralized" because it is an alternative to the vassal swarm or unified state of the alternative path.
