Today I found them extremely annoying with respect to land. I conquered Rome a while back (I'm king of Sicily but an Orthodox Greek originated from ERE). Anyway I carried on and took all the Popes land in that duchy. He still had a couple of minor holdings scattered. I turned my attention to Constantinople. I managed to beat ERE and force a very beautiful massive civil war at the same time. After winning I noticed that the The Ecumenical Patriarchate still held the temple. So I waited for truce and re-attacked the ERE. I managed to win again and installed my own bishop. I had expected that I would either control the Ecumenical Patriarchate or at least the patriarch of Constantinople. However when I unpaused it the original Ecumenical Patriarch magically retook the temple.

That was really annoying to say the least. Then a month later the Pope magically usurps the whole of the duchy he originally held. Takes all 3 counties and I was meant to accept that.

I can slightly understand the Ecumenical Patriarchate problem. I'm orthodox after all however I don't see why I have to accept my religious head to be controlled by the ERE. But with the Pope; Why the hell would a Orthodox Kingdom give the Pope back all his land for no reason what so ever? I wanted to mend the schism but I did not want to do it as the ERE. I also wanted to recreate the original Roman Empire being an Orthodox Greek and ties to ERE but I believe one must be the emperor to do that.

Speaking of religious heads, is there a way to designate one if I am a Christian heresy (iconoclast)? Also, is there an atheistic religion (mod)? Or is a cynical trait the best we can do considering the time period? I imagine a scenario in which I erase all religion from the face of the planet.
