So, I saw this on the religion file:

;Techspeed;Stab bonus;Prod. Eff.;Trade. Eff.;Tax Income;Morale;Ann.Col;Ann.Dip;Ann.Miss;x
Protestantism;1;-300;10;0;10;0;100;100;50;x
Reformed;1;-300;0;10;-20;50;200;100;50;x

Catholicism;-1;600;0;0;0;0;200;200;100;x
Orthodox;-1;800;0;0;0;0;100;0;100;x
Sunni islam;-1;200;0;0;0;0;0;0;100;x
Shiite islam;-3;400;0;0;-20;50;0;0;100;x
Paganism;-25;-500;0;0;0;0;0;0;0;x
Confucianism;-10;1000;0;0;-20;0;0;0;0;x
Buddhism;-5;500;0;0;-20;0;0;0;100;x
Hinduism;-10;-300;0;0;5;50;0;0;0;x
END;;;;;;;;;;

Ann means annex? Is it then possible to annex all nations in a war if you edit the stats on "Ann" to be the same as Paganism?

Open up EU2.exe in notepad, and if it doesn't crash, you should see something like this:

LF&)&*&#@HKJHD#)*&D@JKHD(*&$JH#@KJDN*@#&(BFJ@)(*&D#NIOUDS(*&ER#(*DJOIUOISADUDD*****()(@*E@IJO@IJSIJDFUDK@DC)(*)_#)*)_ISHIT)(&E(#NDD*UD(*#(JD#@*(&(*&FCH$(*&J(*&$HISHOITHYIEUIONDLKJDIU#)(DJ(#JD)(FJ$OKFEW)(UJ#R$EF(UJOI$TFE*YJI

Now find the part... ;)

It would be nice, although probably impossible to do, if some hard-coded things were available for altering. My lack of programming knowledge is probably evident here, but in any case, I would like to see more options.

I would love to be able to edit EU2.exe

My first edit would be to not allow annexations of same religion countries if you do not have a core on their capital.

To prevent that big white blob to appear in "every" game...?

You are also preventing yourself to expand, since it will be impossible to make countries dissappear with that rule.

It would be better if you could annex "many province nations" in one war, thus preventing three or four wars (only the first being realistic).

Not so, since you can vassalize and annex nations of the same religion.

The "only annex one province nations" rule is a bit of a hack, but the realistic alternative (at least within the EU2 timeframe) would be for BB values to be much much higher for any same-religion annexation. This option was probably decided against due to various limitations in the BB system.

I don't see how that is realistic at all. There are very few examples of this ever happending within the game period.

Napoleon for once...

The Ottomans, surely they subdued the Mameluks pretty fast did they not?

And there is probably more examples, but the thing is. Even if the computer players may not be allowed (except AI Napoleon) to annex other nations in one war, I think you should be allowed as any nation. For it should be up to you what to do with the lands that are under your control, and it would give a better feeling that you are actually taking the role of the king, instead of just playing his advisor...

Taking a look at a map from 1812. Hmm... Spain, and Germany are painted with the colour of direct control. Some others are painted as "vassals"...

If you know that, where in the Russian and Ottoman files are that specified?

1. Ottomans have core on Mameluke capital.

2. No, they didn't. The levant defected to them, then they took the Mediterranean coast and vassalized the rest. But for that to work nicely in EU2 the capital would have to be further inland or be able to move or provinces should be made out differently.

And about Captain Frakas comment, I point to the word 'boardgame' which means 'game with a board that you play on a table and has nothing to do with any computer game except inspiration';)

Here is a good example of the map you're talking about. You are quite simply not right here.

France annexed everything up to the Rhine, and by 1812 had annexed the North Sea Coast of Germany. The only multi province annex there was the Netherlands, which was basically a diplo-annex in 1810. The remainder of Germany was three parts - Prussia and Austria who were in forced alliances with France, and the Confederation of the Rhine, which consisted of multiple independent states with Napoleon as their "Protector". You can imagine this as a couple of dozen small French vassals, or one bug French vassal, but in neither case was a multiprovince annex involved.

Spain in 1810 was at war with France. The Junta ruled from Cadiz I believe. Even if you accept the government in Madrid as the real power, the King was Joseph. Up to the Ebro had been formally annexed by France. basically a vassal, and no multi-province annex involved.

Napoleon did a lot of things that you can't do in the game. Annexing multi-province countries was not one of them.

Edit: I suppose you could count Tuscany. I'd call that a diplo-annex. You could possibly make the case for Venice. But that was a very peculiar circumstance in that they were never at war!

Well, the point is. The vassals in this game are too independant to display the lands that Napoleon had conquered. He made a general in the French army the king of Napoli for example. And that meant, troops could be raised there. Also, forces were recruited in the German lands. Can you recruit units in your vassal's lands in this game? No. Since all they give you is 50% of income, the vassals in this game cannot be compared to the lands conquered by Napoleon.
