I'm an orthodox Duke, vassal of the HRE (catholic). I had appointed an orthodox Metropolitan as my vassal, but when he died, he was succeeded by a catholic Prince-Bishop. Is that normal?? Is there any way to avoid it (other than revoking and re-appointing or demand conversion)?

Other question: does being an orthodox cleric also disqualify for a feudal succession, like it does for catholics?

Why don't you just ask him to convert?

That wouldn't matter much since with Investiture succession, it's pretty much random who will be the successor, but it will most certainly be a Catholic (as long as the duke is a vassal of the Catholic HRE). So every time the current prince-bishop dies, the next one will need to be reconverted, which is a nasty business.

i think when we generate new baron-tier vassal or it generates itself when the old one dies (investiture and open election), the religion and the culture of the new vassal will depend on religion and culture of the jure liege who have the right to determine crown law.

i once king of austria and king of croatia in HRE (my culture is south german), and while my new mayor and bishop from austrian holding always north german (hre crown law, north german liege), my new mayor and bishop from croatian holding always end up as south german (croatian crown law, mine, south german liege). well this is happen in the mod i play, but i'm sure the mechanism about this still root from vanilla.
