Releasing Vassals

Recently playing an EEP game, I attacked the Ottoman Empire as the Kingdom of Italy. I forced peace on them, gaining Trabzon, Thrace and Rumelia with the intention of realeasing Trebizond and Byzantium as vassals. I cannot do that, however. Which files do I need to alter to be able to set up these two kingdoms (actually I'd rather just set up the Byzantines with three provinces) as vassals? Do I simply need to input the appropriate values into revolt.txt?

I may figure this out before I get a reply, but for any help provided I thank you in advance.

You can not release as a vassal certain nations after the official date of their death.

To be able to you would need to edit them into the Revolt.txt...

Well I figured it out about a minute after I posted. I posted so if I didn't know what I was doing, I'd have some replies by the time I became frustrated. Thanks for the help though.

A question on the same subject: I wanted to play as Norway in Age of Revolutions, but when releasing them as vassals they only got two provinces, and they had lost Greenland as core provinces. How to fix?

1. Open revolt.txt in a text editor.
2. Find:

NOR = {
	date = { day = 1 month = january year = 1419 }
	expirydate = { day = 31 month = december year = 1820 }
	minimum = { 255 256 }
	extra = { 258 259 261 381 1466 }
	capital = 255 
	group = latin
	}

3. Change into:

NOR = {
	date = { day = 1 month = january year = 1419 }
	expirydate = { day = 31 month = december year = 1820 }
	minimum = { 255 256 258 259 261 }
	extra = { 381 1466 1537 1538 }
	capital = 255 
	group = latin
	}

4. Save.

Done, except I added Iceland and Greenland to the minimum
