Maybe this question has been answered in some earlier thread but I was curious what the benefits of directly controlling a nation directly vs. puppeting them (or in UK's case releasing them as colonies) are?
I ask this since I noticed Italy tends to conquer Ethiopia, which of course is how it historically goes and that is all well and good, but I was curious if an Italian player simply puppeted Ethiopia to benefit more from its recruitable soldiers over its resources. The same could be said on a larger scale with the UK, by releasing all those African colonies to sample a larger recruitment pool over the scant resources some of those regions provide.
Any info on the arguments and counter-arguments for either course of action would be very enlightening for me, thanks!
