I would like to see the "release client state" button on the province interface incorporated with the "free subject" function so that countries (vassal, protectorate) can be released like when you release a client, so that you can have some control over what provinces they get. This way, the button is not entirely useless for the early game, and players won't have to lose provinces that they want to keep just because the released vassal has too many cores. Of course, the freed subject can only be created on provinces that they have a core on like before (unlike client state).

Perhaps in addition, the culture requirement can be removed as well, and maybe colonial nations can be created this way too (allow you to create a colonial nation manually with just one colony, instead of waiting till you have several), though those are probably something of another discussion.

Ideally, this would make releasing vassal/march a more worthwhile effort with more player control over their formation similar to the client states, and pretty looking border is always nice.

Please Paradox. This. I thought this was the direction we were moving in with client states being introduced, but currently they're just a late-game throwaway mechanic.
