Release on 4th August??

Just noticed that on amazon.com that a reseller called Southpeak are releasing boxed version on 4th August
Price is also slightly cheaper at $36.99 usd

Also checked ebgames.com they also have 4th of August... price is $39.99 though

Can anyone verify this or are they being sneaky and trying to get more pre-orders?

US release is currently in stone for 7 August, unless of course the 4th is the shipping date.

The thing that is getting me is that with every other game that has ever been released*, it is available in retail stores the day AFTER its ship date. We still haven't gotten an answer from Paradox why all of these retailers are listing the 4th as the ship date if the game is supposed to come out on the 7th. Either the game is shipping on the 6th, or the 4th, which could put it in your hands two days before it comes out on Gamersate, which makes NO SENSE for Paradox since they get way more money from digital downloads, so why would they release their game online two days after it was available in stores? Sorry for the run-on sentence.

I don't think we're going to be able to clear this one up until Paradox steps in here.

EDIT: Of course, the truth could be that for whatever reason, the boxed copies are going to be in stores on the 5th, and Paradox doesn't want to/can't change the digital download date, so they're not telling us in the hope that we'll hold out for a digital download copy, but that's kind of conspiratorial, so it's a bit of a stretch.

Honestly I think that having a surprise release would be extremely awesome, as if Johan suddenly was revealed to be Superman and he singlehandedly beat the crap out of the chinese army so they unban hoi. That would be how awesome paradox would be for having a surprise release. Besides, it's bad to release games on friday, as there isn't any tech support over the weekend.

The more I think about it the more convinced I become that the game will be in stores on the fifth, and ship from online retailers on the fourth. The vast majority of video games are shipped on Tuesdays, in stores on Wednesday. Only the rare very major game release will ship on a different day. I'm confident that I'll be able to pick up HOI3 at a store on Wednesday, but I'd love some clarification from Paradox.

In the US games, video and music all come out on Tuesdays and they are IN stores on that day or shipped to the consumer. This is why the release day was originally listed at that, and most retailers that i have talked to dont have any idea what hoi3 is. So, I'm guessing that most havent updated that its now suppose to be released on the 7th. So, there is a small chance that some of them may still release it on the 4th, but dont hold your breath.

The 7th is just such an odd day for a game release. For people ordering online, most shipping does not take place over the weekend, so it just delays it even further. Of course in this age of digital downloads, maybe the physical sale isn't as important.

I have bought alot of games from Amazon and Bestbuy I have never heard of this before. I wish someone could figure this out since I am going to buy the game pre-order from amozon right after I get back from my meeting later today. it would be cool to get the game early and I would just have to call out from work for a week or so.

For those who ordered physical copy? No idea, as I don't know how they work, but I would assume that they can get the game on 6th or 7th.

Paradox will not be able to sell the game to physical retailers if they make it available as a download first.

Ask yourself this... if you were a newspaper publisher, how many stores would agree to do business with you if you only gave them three-day-old newspapers, while selling the current news yourself?
