A humble suggestion that when you release a nation why than it go to pre-set provinces as in all other paradox games what if a window akin to the EU peace window where you could choose what provinces of those with its cores in it or in the same state as those with those cores or maybe with all of your lands to choose from so that the new state can have the borders you want it to have without arsing around with selling provinces to it after the fact which deeply harms your prestige and doesnt make sense in story of the game terms.

if you build legislatures/viceroyalties/governerships that act as centres of trades do in EU3 (but with some player input re. its hinterland) then one should be able to invest such legislatures with home rule, effectively making them dominions.

the ability to build a legislature could be tied to population density, and the amount of legislatures one could build could be linked to whether one's state is federal or unitary (or its monarchical counterpart).

federal/imperial systems would be better for large, sprawling or far flung states whereas unitary/kingdom systems would be better to small states. unitary states that build legislatures would do so for the express purpose of creating dominions.

This is a great idea. It could also affect starting relations: if you release a country but don't give them all of their cores, they won't get along with you as well.

Sure, as long as there's a mechanic to stop the player creating nonsensical states.

why should there be, in a peace treaty the player can gift a revolter state half his kingdom, why not when he releases the same. If there was a mechanic itd probably kick in just when you almost had the border as a straight line or following the river you want it to. Or else forcing you the loose the one province you annexed the damn place to get in the first place, along with the rest. If the player wants to liberate finland and give it all of french conquered russia why should mechanics stop him. even if its a damn silly thing why shouldnt he be free to do it.

Let me put it this way - if Russia had historically 'released' Poland with one province in Lvov, one in Grodno and one in Lodz, do you think the resulting state would be viable or the aspirations of Polish nationalists at all met?

I have to agree with Orinsul on this. While a scenario like you present seems stupid, it HAS happened in Vic1. If you were Austria you could create Poland with a couple of provinces of Galicia. Same for Ukraine. Released Nations don't have to be the size THEY want, just whatever you had.

As the Master you should be able to decide which provinces come and go. I was always very annoyed by this too in Vic 1, not having a say in which provinces I kept. The jey thing is that there YOUR provinces, you should be able to decide which ones stay and which ones go.

It would be great if you, say, release Poland but don't give them all their provinces then all the polish POPs in non-polish provinces (even in foreign nations) have their militancy increased.

oooh I like that. So you could give a certain dose of sovereignty to certain peoples, but without giving them full independence. That would be very nice. And historic! Austria-Hungary is screaming for this feature.

I agree with this. If the Poles look like they're going to seize ten of my provinces, why not just release Lvov? However, there should be a virtuous mean between "ridiculous Palestinian Authority-shaped state" and "give the revolter all their cores". Ireland is a good example of a country whose territory made sense, but it still had "cores" of a sort on Northern Ireland.

That would be neat, esp. re Crimea taking up most of the Don right bank all the way to Belgorod or Ukraine getting the modern borders or somesuch.
