Whenever the game releases - next 3 months, or next year - I am glad to hear a team of developers will put more time into the game, (relatively) free of charge! Every development day takes money away from Paradox. This means that if they delay more, it costs them. When they push a game's release date back, they are, in a way saying, we want to put thousands more dollars into a game, just so you will enjoy it more. Seems like a great deal to me.

Well, in a way, from a business standpoint, it can be seen as a long term investment. They are likely hoping to follow the same DLC model as with EU4 and CK2 (and I don't see any convincing reason why they should not), which means that a good first impression leads to their customers more likely staying for and investing in the upcoming DLCs.

Edit: Also, another reason to make sure the game is well sorted out before release, from a business standpoint, is that the brand will carry on the quality of the product. If they show quality improvement in the product, the brand value increases.

Ha. It's the "trängselskatt" all over again. EU4 (Essingeleden) and CK2 (Centralbron) customers are paying for the development of HOI4 (Cykelbanor).

Jokes aside. I'd rather see the devs working on this title for as long as they have to rather than another HOI3 style release.

I don't want them to make a bad game. It needs to be very good or they shouldn't bother releasing it. EU4 was very good when it was released and remains very good -- though at times it's gone to great and less great -- but still great

Of course they should not release the game until it is ready. But the length of development does not necessarily correspond to quality. As someone who works for a software developer, I know that when a project is delayed, the development team isn't saying "We want to work on it longer to make it even better" as much as they're saying "there are problems we simply can't fix by the deadline". The bigger the problems are, the longer the game gets delayed. Therefore, a game constantly being delayed is a worrying sign if it continues for long.

I'm not saying this is the case with HoI 4, though. The fact that the game has been moved into beta shows that they are making good progress on the game. Paradox's decision not to set a firm release date was pretty smart, because I would rather wait around for an announcement that takes longer than expected than to be constantly disappointed by changes in the release date. At this point, I'm actually expecting HoI 4 to have one of the most bug-free release of any Paradox game. They've certainly come a long way.

Or in the case of masseuses.... "How to Learn to Stop Worrying and Love the Balm"

Just one thing: it (physically )hurts to wait, but it can't be helped.

I dream about an early released demo some nights.
