On the 10th March, what time does the game release? Also, will there be a pre-load option?

The reason i ask, is i have found that too many games say a date, then release time is like 20 hours later within that date.

I came to this question, because everyone will be asking soon enough, anyway. And i have pre-ordered Homeworld (Had originals), and it does not release to play until 6pm. And i think that is a little unfair, due to the day is almost over.

So, TotallyMoo, is there a time set, or is it unknown at this time?

If you have the release according to the midnight of every single timezone, everyone in the later zones scream it is unfair that they get to play it later than someone just because they were born somewhere else....

To me, the middleground is a global single release. But that is assuming that the master server can handle the sudden massive load, when needed...

Seriously, it is just a matter of perspective. even if it is 22h march 10th, it is still march tenth... I guess publishers will have to start announcing exact time and date of releases to make everyone "not unhappy"

Unless Paradox does something unusual in terms of when Steam usually release games, the game will be available for download at 7pm CET. (or 1900 hours if you like).

That's the time when all games (except a few triple A games with special midnight release or something) are released. So it's nothing special for Cities: Skylines or Paradox in general. That's just how Steam do their thing.

Hi,

I ordered skylines from 365games in the UK, they tell me it will be released on the 20th
And also to add to confusion, it will be shipped physical media, i have used this supplier before with no problems.

does anyone know if this is correct , is it available on physical media ?

Regards

I think only Moo or other staff member can really answer that. They told us that the game would have a physical media but thats it, not release date or other informatons.

I just feel bad for you. :( Waiting +10 days while everyone is playing. :/

This. The release time is dependent on Steam. They typically release games at 10am PST (their local timezone) or as mentioned, 7pm CET.

Not sure why you'd want it on "physical media" in 2015 - On Steam, it is set for a release on the 10th March:

Its nice to have a box. Its also about £7 cheaper which makes zero sense.

Amazon is the same so I guess that the 20th is the physical release date.

True - I myself bought both FarCry4 and Dragon Inquisition from Amazon because they were cheaper than digital (with Dragon Age, I bought the standard edition then "upgraded" to the digital deluxe and it was STILL cheaper than the digital)

However, release dates were the same and with Amazon, you are pretty much guaranteed to get the game on release day. But if I was ordering a game and the physical release date was 10 days after the digital, I'd go digital.

The game will only take 10 minutes to download anyway (if that) and is relatively cheap compared to other new titles. I personally would not be willing to save £7 but wait 10 days longer.

Besides, I like to have all my games on Steam. Steam rules. :D

I preordered even if it was the same day. Its faster to download than go to the shops, or however long it takes the postman to get his finger out.

But I would rather have a box version, its just too convenient and lazy to have it appear by a press of a button which is why I go download.

Indeedy - I miss the old days where me and my brother would go into town to buy a game, then sit in McDonald's with the box, give it a smell as you open it and thumb through the manual with your greasy, burger-laced fingers. Ah, those were the days...

These days, it is too easy, but I now have a new tradition of of sitting up till midnight of release to play a new game into the early hours within minutes of it "unlocking".

hmmm, let me see. Get up, have breakfast, go to work until 5pm. Have tea. download game, play game. Sounds like a perfect day.

Replace the tea with Pepsi, and that was my plan too. Then some joker at my work went and scheduled an evening meeting, 5pm-7pm. "Skipping meeting due to urgent need to play computer game" would not go over too well at my work. I guess it's 7pm for me!!

Think yourself lucky, I can see me being far too poorly to even go to work.
