Release date on Steam

I really don't care where I get it from. If I can download before it's in stores here I'll download it.
Atm I'm thinking Impulse because I'd like to support stardock in their efforts.

What venue does PI like we use? Who's paying you the most per game? Also, downloadable games should be way cheaper than hard copies. If this isn't doable without losing shop sales. Don't sell in shops! That's gotto be a very low percentage for niche games like yours and so much trouble.

Gamersgate would be it. It's related to Paradox.

I'm going for a hard copy if at all possible, with gamersgate a close second. I refuse to use steam.

There is a huge difference between DRM-problems caused by the developer's choice of drm and purely Steam related issues.

Both Steam and Gamersgate work decent enough

Actually Steam is possibly one of the best pieces of gaming Software I've ever used, from what I hear it's on Sega/Creative's side that all the trouble is coming from when they decided to use it as a form of DRM and there sloppy ability to fix the game.

Yes I understand that Empire is bugged, not so much now after the new patch but that wasn't my point. Steam made people pay 10-15% more for the game to download it two days in advance. Then on the pre-load date said it would not happen, no refund no further information nothing. I do no trust Steam. I do trust Paradox, so I guess I'm in a bit of a paradox.......... I just truthfully hope that Paradox changes its mind.

Once again, that was sega's problem, not Steam's.

They did not make you pay extra to preload Empire. They never have charged extra for preloads and never will. They may have been a bit more expensive than some other stores running sales, but that's business. The extra money you paid had nothing to do with preloading.

I have. There were much trouble from the get go. But the real horrible thing is how Rome customers were treated, I thankfully was not one of them.

I've never understood this antipathy to steam... Its never caused me any problems, except when the game's producer messes up (SEGA!). Its easy to use, and its great for multiplayer games such as TF2.

Apparently this needs to be repeated until the sun becomes a red giant: Valve (the owners of Steam) DO NOT SET PRICES.

And if they try to undercut the retailers (esp. on a high profile title like Empire) they would stop carrying their games. And this would hurt since large chain stores have enormous market leverage.
