I don't know about you guys but Steam left a lot of people with a bitter taste in their mouth after Empire Total War. Its was a total and complete failure and that might be giving it to much credit.
Half the people who paid 10-15% more for the game to download 2 days ahead of release were slapped in the face when Steam stated on the pre-load date that they would NOT be allowing pre-loads, after months of telling customers that they were going to be able to.
Then for the ones who waited and bought the physical copy, had trouble even installing the game. Many said the game actually DOWNLOADED from Steam instead of getting the info from the disk. On release +2 Steam released an update to stop this from happening.
I like the Total War franchise and Steam ruined that experience for many people. By God if they ruin HoI3 for me, I will systematically take down their entire company via hostile take-over.
I do not understand the thoughts in Publishers and Developers. No matter how much money to spend on security and anti-piracy you are forgetting your legitimate customers. And your forgetting the most powerful of all Human philosophies, if there is a will, there is a way. Someone will crack the game and many people will download it. Life's a bitch consider it payback for releasing broken games that require tons of patching to be play able (Not necessarily directed at Paradox).
