Higher price in terms of content are at least to some extent due to choice given. Revenue = Price * sales. If, for example, 50% of EU4 owners buy DLC X then the price of DLC X should be twice as much than what it would cost as part of the base game to make the same revenue. Right?

Right! And if that content was in the game in the first place I could be sold for 42,5€ by the same logic. But deal is that people are collector creatures and most of us get that just to have feel it's complete game, this is not like rifle skin in FPS, it's game for people who like history, flavor and accuracy of facts, noone sure as hell doesnt want their camel riders to look like hussars, it's imersion killer. Sooner or later I'd bet majority of people playing the game get all DLCs. Oh, and I forgot, game is 40(of wahetver $ or €, depends where you live and where do you buy) but if you 1) preorder and 2) get turbo version you get 4 additional DLCs for 5€/$. If you are just waiting for review/demo it'll cost you more, probably assuming each DLS is 2€/$ so it would be 48 or more.

As it was mentioned, without sale CK2 was more then 100€ with all DLCs before TOG, now add 21€ to that... we are getting closer to 150€ for a game... a great game (with mods) but still, too pricey by any standard. Unless you wait for sale. Dont know, I was sure that I would be happy to buy (or even preorder, which I have done only once so far) EU4, but all this day 1 DLC milking makes me want to practice self-controll and wait till some sale. Which is appearantly solution to this whole discussion, because everthing "loyalist" suggest is to STFU and wait for sale if you think pricing is wrong/DLC on day 1 is not cool.

I don't see your point. I've sunk over €120 in EU3 as well with the 4 expansions, with CKII you can at least pick what you like.

Preordered from GG.

A side question for you guys: does anybody else get "payment authorization failed" from the Paradox Webshop when using their credit card? There are no holds on my card (checked with the bank, and confirmed by just using it to preorder from GG) and there are no flags or problems with my Paradox Webshop account (checked with them via email). But I've never managed to have a transaction go through successfully, no matter what iteration of my billing address I put in (perfect match with the address on my card statement or otherwise). Obviously, I'd prefer to throw my money directly at Paradox, but so far have been forced to go through third parties.

Any ideas?

I'll probably preorder deluxe anyway, but I don't like the day 1 gameplay DLC. I'm ok with unit pictures, icons, skins, music, history or whatever else *non-gameplay* affecting things they want to add to day 1 DLC, but events are something else, and gives me an unpleasant feeling.

Even steam only games sometime get physical copies in stores. I know CKII did and that was a steam install and so were some others. However I'm not guaranteeing anything.

Hearing the word digital a lot, are there no physical copies?
It's Steam only without disc but it has day one content DLCs, and even more day one DLC for turbo pack, and extra more if you preorder! Get is now and you get free set of knifes!

Shame really, great games with bad buisiness makes me sad :(

EDIT: I forgot to mention you can get even more day one DLCs if you join on the pyramid scheme!

He didn't mention integrating them...He did mention the time it takes to make them. If you can research, design, script, and test enough events to make up a small DLC in "a matter of minutes" and have them work perfectly with no errors then you should apply to work here, because you'd be far better than any of us at this.

This was a rude response. First, I did mention integration time. It was the primary focus of the post that Captain Gars replied to. Second, I never stated that it would take "a matter of minutes" to create a small DLC's worth of events. I did say that it would take "a matter of minutes" to integrate the events from the DLC into the base game. If they're going to be functional on day one, then they're already tested and balanced. You only need to copy the appropriate text files over, something ridiculously easy to do. Even then, I do find it somewhat perplexing for you to imply that "several new events for the Muslim nations" would seriously take days or weeks of work for experienced PI employees to finish.
