It's going to be released alongside the DLC and the DLC has no release date yet. I would expect September (the next DD is going to be about art, then probably one about the Achievements, one about the patchnotes, possibly a gap week somewhere in between and maybe one more DD about whatever).

Well for all of August it's the PD Tinto guy's holidays I believe. So the absolute earliest it could be would be mid-September. Realistic assumption would be around early to mid October.

Which is really frustrating. Not because I wanted them to rush it, in fact I'm glad they've been taking their time with releases (although mid October sounds really unnecessarily far away)

But it's frustrating that they've been freezing the dev build so soon in development. They show us like three dev diaries and that's it, can't really change much anymore because the build is practically set in stone. If your worst estimate is correct, and I highly hope it's not, we are looking at a build frozen for over 3 months with only very small changes. We barely get to give any feedback at all with the dev diaries and it's already "too late" to say anything.

It's gotten a lot better since after Leviathan, but they tend to use the Dev Diaries as more of a hype tool than a feedback tool.

Based on the last DD it feels like we are close. That was all :)
I get you. Trust me on this that i also would like 1.34 as well Scandinavian DLC. I can't wait to try out new government reforms, especially for Theocracies and certain island Crusader nation ;)

Well it's only actually frozen for ~1 month (August, holidays) and the rest of September I expect they will be still working on it, ironing out bugs and reviewing all the feedback we give between then and now. They definitely won't be just sat there waiting for the release date as, like you said, that would be wasted time.

I’m Swedish and we also have a summer freeze(for three months!). However the freeze only limits production release. It does allow you to work on the code when you’re not on vacation. Personally I took 3 weeks cause I’d like to save some for later.

No I don't mean the vacation. I mean that it's been many weeks already since they've been saying it's too late to do any significant changes in the build. When they start the Dev Diaries they've got everything more or less decided. Something as small as a 0.1 becoming a 0.2 in idea groups they can do, or making it so the Hungarian and Swiss mercenaries don't cost professionalism. But something a little bigger wouldn't be feasible with the timeframe they have.

Ideally the dev diaries should start earlier, or the developing should be given like an extra month to incorporate chunkier ideas the community might have brought in the dev diary discussion and they've liked.

On the 2nd of August theres a DD about Art.

Quoting a comment from Pavia in the last DD we know that there will be a DD on the 9th

in a couple of weeks I'll present an almost-final version of the Idea group numbers as an addition to the planned DD

He doesnt mention which topic the DD will cover but im going to assume it will be about perfomance improvement of the game in 1.34(?) Because they havent really talked about it in any DD as far as I remember. He does say that the numbers will be "almost-final", so the build must be near completion

After that, the only DD topic that I can think of for the 16th would be the patch notes. Either this or no DD at all because they go to vacation and then release the patch notes 3 weeks later on the 6th of September, followed by the release of the patch itself on the 7th or 8th of September.

Sadly, I think this dlc dropping in August is very unlikely because they would have to release it and then go to vacation without being able to fix possible bugs, missions not working properly, numbers not being the right value... and a ton of other things that would have to be sorted within the release week because i dont think pdx tinto wants another mess like 1.31.

Obviously this is all expeculation on my part, only the devs know that and since they havent been very specific about it they are probably not even sure themselves, although early September would be the best bet in my opinion

They might announce the release date next week and then go on a vacation. But we can't count on that.
Remember that they can still release pre-written dds while on a vacation, like they did for CK3 with the Royal Court.

Given the fact that pretty much nothing can be altered with the version at hand right now, they clearly have the "release version" somewhat complete already. I do not think that it can be released officially before their holiday ends, but I cannot stop dreaming about the possibility of at least a public beta for the patch as soon as possible. I had a great time with previous betas, even got some time-consuming achievements with them and had no issues with their stability, and though I may be in the luck minority regarding that, I think they sure are a good enough way for most of us to enjoy the game a bit before the official release of the next version. I do not know about others but for me it is pretty impossible to play and enjoy EU4 as is at least 3 months before the release of a new version...
