I was looking at some achievements that I could complete, and apparently as South Africa you can get Edward VIII as your leader. I’ve been playing the game with all DLCS for upwards of 2 years now, and had no idea this was a feature.

What other relatively simple game features did you have no clue existed?

Attaching deploying troops to an army automatically. Avoids some micro. But they really need a "recruit to army" button like Rome has.

Also select all and merge on air units. I didn't know it was possible. But it merges like wings with like.

Been a week now and I'm still trying to make sense of it all.

A simple QoL technique for USA, Japan, and UK.

If you want to automatically move a pile of divisions overseas while at peace, temporarily place them in an army of their own and put them in a garrison order for whatever island/overseas area they are supposed to go to. The divisions, no matter where they are, will move to a port and sail themselves overseas.

You can remove the garrison order later when they arrive. But this removes the need to micro divisions to a port, move them by sea, and so on. They will do it themselves.

I wouldn't do this while at war.

IF you've tagged " ` ", to see which who(s) has what, and then tagged " ` " back to your nation, AND ;
The AI has gone bug-fuck CRAZY, issuing orders that send units ALL over the map instantantly shreding THEATERS, COMMANDS, assigning new Generals and FMs with wild and terrible abandon, making 'battle plans' for nations you're NOT AT WAR WITH ;

WHILE STILL ON PAUSE :

1] Put armies under a spurious FM in Theater, UP into the Theater 'unemployed' line; which gets rid of the useless FM ; do this for each Theater ...
2] Check Generals, for locations, for troops, to see what you can use (here) ; remember those units you had in Vladivostok ?, the closest ones are on the far side of the Urals ! Generals and FMs you don't need ... dump ; hire the good ones .
3] IF you need to use a Theater for 'unemployed' Generals and troops, DO SO, to recreate order in your realm, at the Giant Swap Meet !!
This allows you to fill out your TO&E locally, restore training commands, and to choose far away units to get by strategic movement to assembly areas .
4] Once satisfied with your deployments, CHECK THEM AGAIN, to see if anything was missed !!, troop dispositions, Fleet locations, Air Wings ; the whole 9 yards .

5] Un-pause, and hope you survive !!!

Yes. You can also issue this order when there is no ongoing battle, let's say while paused, before starting an attack: Ctrl + right click on the enemy units in the target province (don't click on the target province itself, it won't work). The game will acknowledge the order by drawing a thin blue arrow. The unit will join the battle and support the attack on that province as soon as it starts.

It is always better to train base divisions and change template manually than to train new templates. Because expensive, or armor-heavy templates take ages to train but changes are instant and exp loss only dependant on manpower, so template with lots of INF won't lose exp.

You can send volunteers and change their template to whatever they face, anti-armor, mountaneers etc.
You can turn 2 width paratroopers into 40 width monsters overnight. Land them on the port and change template.

I always debate to myself whether to use the technique. On one hand, it feels such a chore and historically combined arms divisions did take longer to train. On the other hand, if the game allows it, why shouldn't I do it. The mod I use does drop the experience level down when changing equipment but training in field is still quicker (at a tradeoff for fuel and equipment loss obviously).
