What I already know is little...

Reinforce rates:

  • Owned provinces give 200%. (even if they are controlled by someone else)
  • Controlled provinces give 100%.
  • Neutral or allied provinces give 100%.
  • Enemy provinces give 50% if you neighbourg a friendly controlled province
  • Enemy provinces give 10% if you don't neighbour a friendly controlled province
  • Enemy coastal provinces give 25% if you don't neighbour a friendly controlled province

Now I do not know what exactly these rates modify. Is there a base reinforce rate? What does it depend on (my guess would be manpower) and how do you calculate it?

PS: Ok, I found something in the files:

Code:
0.1	# Amount of regiment strength reinforced each month.

Does this mean I get a base reinforce speed of 10%? And the reinforce rates modify this value?

The base reinforcement speed is 10% of the maximum number of men in your army stack. All the different modifiers contribute to that number when it is calculated at first day of each month.

So a 20 unit stack will be reinforced each month by 2000 men in an ally's province, 4000 men in your own unoccupied province, and so on and so forth.

This, with a Defenders ability to destroy a Depot in the Supply Chain, incurring added resupply penalties. Blitzkreig smash and grabs can be far too easy sometimes.

Hmm... Sometimes. But if the armies are large enough (>500k) and battlefields are long and narrow enough (>5-6 provinces deep, <5-6 provinces wide) you cannot kill enemy armies on the same tech level. As an attacker you refresh at half the rate your enemy refreshes so you won't be able to last.

The defender has way too many benefits.

As it should be,
Thats why you fight next to friendly borders... If you travel all the way across an enemies country then you should expect bad supply (ie, lower reinforcements from men traveling FROM your territory)

So a 20 unit stack will be reinforced each month by 2000 men in an ally's province, 4000 men in your own unoccupied province, and so on and so forth.

Be careful with this one. Only single units will be reinforced when they are missing men. So unless every unit is below 800 men, then you can't expect to see the full 4000 reinforcements

I know, but you should have the opportunity to alleviate this a little through some sort of mechanic. But there is none atm. Maybe looting a province should not be automatic but a button, like scorched earth, (you are actually hurting yourself pretty badly when you loot provinces, because you're adding +5 max attrition to the province) and it could give a little more refreshment rates, when you do.

Be careful with this one. Only single units will be reinforced when they are missing men. So unless every unit is below 800 men, then you can't expect to see the full 4000 reinforcements

Yeah, the reinforcement rate is per regiment, not per army.

What about hiring a Colonel? That improves reinforcement speed.

edit - Apparently not Colonel. The wiki says quantity slider and Quartermaster are the only things you can do to alleviate slow reinforcement away from friendly provinces...

Does quantity do that? This would be huge and shift my emphasis away from quality.

Edit: Ok, I checked: I don't know if it is worth to sacrifice the 20% discipline for 25% reinforce speed...

@Quartermaster: The maximum of 30% is almost of no use.

(1) Basic reinforcement ratio is 10% per unit per month (100 men per unit).
(2) All modifiers increase this amount (10% / 100) directly. So you will regenerate 20% (200) in own provinces, 10% (100) in neutral, allied and controlled provinces and 5% (50) in hostile provinces.
(3) An additional bonus will help to increase reinforcespeed even more. Remember that attrition has a fixed maximum % (usually 5% / 50), so increased reinforce speed *should* allow your armies to replensih inside hostile territory. This comes at a great drain to your MP pool, but can, nevertheless, be essential for conduction offensive operations in enemy territory.

I would so like an option to set up supply depots or something similar in enemy provinces to improve the reinforce speed in an offensive war.
By controlling an enemy province you increase supply limit and reinforce speed.

You are missing 10000 troops. You regenerate 1000 each month.
If you hire a Skill6 QM you will regenerate 1300 troops each month.

This advisor increases the reinforcement SPEED and not the value or number.

The province status modifier multiplies by the total of other modifiers so if you are in a hostile province neighboring a controlled province and have a 30% quartermaster your rate would be 100*0.5*1.3 = 65 soldiers per regiment per month. In one of your own provinces it would be 100*2*1.3 = 260 soldiers per regiment per month.

Draining the pool is not really a big deal when you get 50k MP per month back.

By controlling an enemy province you increase supply limit and reinforce speed.

Yes I kow that, but the enemy still has twice your reinforce speed even in occupied provinces. That is what bothers me the most.

50k MP per month???

I play as France. Is 1690. I own all France, all Italy, all Spain, half of Germany. With advanced military building i get only 27k .
If a nations grows to 50k manpower / month, it is to strong to need all those young lads ...

Well, I was the HRE and had 1 Million MP with almost 50k per month. The OE had 1.8 Million MP with around 80k per month.

You just need to build military buildings everywhere.

Yeah ... but there is a problem with this :D
To be able to use ALL the manpower and land limits you need LOTS of money. So it is good to build some mints and trading buildings. so you can't build military building everywhere ...

BTW, Alexander John Cuza, are you a Romanian ?Or how it makes that you have this awesome name?
