Always check the help sections of the forum, for example here: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?547980-Key-Issues-Look-here.

Sounds like you have issue "Key too short".

Finally figured it out (i think?) it seems the one i got with the box wasn't good enough for the mighty Paradox forum, and steam gave me one instead..... Extremely confusing, in my opinion.

Had no problem with the Steam code. It came correctly formatted. The forum is sluggish though so I got timed out when registering. Reloaded and signed in, problem solved.

@Sadiregu - I presume you solved your problem, otherwise look closer at your badges.

Thats how it is for me. If only I was able to just download it & play, without this complication

I got the right number of characters but keep getting an "Invalid key" error. Also a Steam copy

For me, im using Gamstreamer, which this is what im told,

" NOTE: You need to have MAIN/BASE GAME installed under Steam if purchase
was a DLC or ADD-ON.

1. Launch Steam. Register as user with Steam network.
(After registering you will have to log into Steam with your
userid/password.

2. Click the “Games” top-menu item and then choose:
“Activate a Product on Steam...”

3. Enter your Activation Key exactly as it appears on your email or store
account (you have to respect the upper or lower case as well as spaces.

4. Game will proceed to download if you haven't already installed it.

5. When you see "Play" and download completes you are all set. Enjoy!"

My Steam key had the right length and it worked (well, the site froze up after I entered it, but it went through and registered correctly). It's not a general problem with Steam-issued keys. (If it wasn't bought directly from Steam or GG, Sadiregu's post above might have the answer.)

Ah, sorry, I was referring to registering the game in the forum here, for the icons. Have you tried restarting Steam? Did you check the "library" or the "download" tab? (Sorry if this is a terribly obvious question, just asking because I don't know if you're familiar with Steam's library tabs, as they are a tad confusing.)

yea, i know steam pretty well, iv got 50+ games on there lolz

To be clear, I had no problem downloading from Steam, but my Steam-issued key doesn't seem to work. I'm going to try it again just in case I mixed up an 0 with an o
