Registering the steam version of the game

I do I register the steam bought version of the game. I emailed steam on Saturday and they told me today that there is no CD key for the game and that I am basically out of luck. Is there anyway I can get paradox to send me a key as long as I have a proof of purchase or something along those lines?

I suggest you email Paradox support that way you will get a definitive answer.

Is there any real reason to register EIC? The tech support forums are already visible after all. Though since I too have a steam copy of EIC I'd be interested to know the answer to the OP's question.
