Registering the Steam version of the game

I guess it's not very important now that the metaserver has been taken down, but since staff in the HOI3 forum have been openly hostile to people without registered games, I'd like to register my Steam-purchased HOI2 on the forum.

Usually there's an option on Steam where I can "view CD key for this game" but that doesn't seem to be the case with HOI2. Where can I find my CD key? Maybe in the registry?

You can't register just HoI2 since there is no registration-key for HoI2, only for the Hoi2DD boosterpack 'Armageddon' and for the HoI-Anthology are there registration-keys.

Sorry, I should have specified: I have the "HoI 2 Complete Pack" which includes Arma. Is that a different thing?

I believe so. AFAIK you cannot register that.
