Registering boxed game with steam

I have a box HOI3 Collection CD ROM (2011) and I wanted to activate it on steam, so I can buy TFH and get mods. I get "invalid product code" message in steam and their help recommends contacting retailer (IDK) or publisher.

So, is there any assistance available...I can share the key here if necessary.

I have heard rumors that steam will accept product codes from boxed copies but it's pretty unusual for that to be the case I'd try contacting paradox's support directly and seeing if they can give you the hook up.

No luck there, so I'll buy the steam version again.

Questions: which expansions do I need, all of them or just base game + TFH?

Also, is there a steam workshop available for mods of this game?

I would buy *at least* Semper Fi and FTM - but you should be able to get TFH as well for relatively the same (or exactly the same) price.

Not that i know of as far as mods - once you register the game most of the essential mods are here on the forum.
