Register CD key now or later?

So i have preordered march of the eagles in the steam and got a CD key already and was wondering whether i should register now or wait until it gets released. Is there difference or is it the same?

Well, mine doesn't say anything besides March of the Eagles, so you may as well register it now. Who knows, maybe the post-release icons will have a different color.

on the right hand side of the page will say "CD Key"
press that
there's your CD Key

There's no downside to registering it now! Steam users already have received a key (see ve3609's post above), which was actually a pleasant surprise.

If the icons are different, we will have "cool" icon and persons whom registered after release will "mediocre" icon. Compare your ck2 icon and Mivo's ck2 icon.

steam gave the cd keys but not gamersgate yet ? why i wonder ...tho Sengoku code is there instead, interesting.

I believe it's Gamersgate who chose to approach it this way.
At least you can gift Sengoku if you already own it, which isn't possible on Steam.
The key will be there on monday I suspect.

I bought mine from steam directly.

Edit: NVM found it. It's to the far right if you turn on "detail view" for your steam library. I cannot even begin to describe how usefull it is to know this, without having to start the game installation.

That should be an activation code for Steam.

Once you activate the game, Steam should show something called the CD-Key.

I expect that is the code you need to use to register the game here.
