Besides getting strong claims from heirs are there any actual bonuses to a dynasty.
I mean the function of keeping your bloodline going does it have any real influence besides legitimacy?

As far as i can tell the only thing it does is keep royal marriages going?

Im not talking about the functions of royal marriage either, or does an ongoing dynasty increase chances of inheriting.

If you share a dynasty with another country you get a boost to relations.

Aside from that it is interesting to see how your dynasty spreads across the world, and potentially gives you another goal for your monarchy games - get your dynasty into power in x% of the world. Or just x% of the Christian/Muslim/Eastern religious world

If you have sufficient prestige, a new dynasty will be generated from one of your noble families (they will however have one of the pre-set dynasty names from your culture group)

If your prestige is low, you'll get a noble from a nation with which you have a royal marriage.

Needless to say, i always choose my royal marriage partners carefully to avoid getting an Askanier.

In fact in my last game as Brunswick i switched to Noble Republic to get him off the throne, elected a different guy (the names here can also actually come from the Admiral/General list). Then switch back to Monarchy and your former republican leader is now a King. That is one way of generating dynasties that dont actually exist in the game and would otherwise be impossible to obtain.

You can also get an interregnum (no heir, no royal marriages, no cadet branches ruling somewhere else), after which the royal family changes. I got that once, when a young heir died during a regency council.
