New noble may come in with an heir. I've had that happen.

New noble dont come to rule. I had regency council, during that I got event that heir is sick. I send for medicus, but heir die anyway. But regency is still in charge but without any heir who wait for adult.

Edit: I think if it posible to get new king during this "regency bug without heir":
- centralization and let pretender rise to take capital
- show up event about heir with maid (if it jump at regency).

I really dont want to load old save, and role play interprate some things in game. Even such buggy one.

He's not asking what happens, he is asking why this happens. I know it's happened to me before plenty. I have a regency with no heir, and suddenly a heir pops out of nowhere.

Thanks for answer. At such answer I wait. That heir pop up anyway at regency council. So my dynasty dont die. Because im very attach to my Jagiellon dynasty. :p

I tend to interpret it as a wrangle to find an agreeable candidate, but one which doesn't reach the stage of actual hostilities. It's just a slow process to negotiate and stuff, and it's one reason the new monarch starts with very low legitimacy.

Now I see, than some lame von Wettin without prestige come to throne. :/ Its strange that from all this RM take dynasty with lowest prestige score. Now Jagiellons rule in Austria. And in Poland-Lithuania von Wettins. Sight! :p

Its hard for Jagiellons to survive longer than one generation. And I had so nice plan to hold Jagiellons as much I can, and than dynasty end change to noble republic. That was short rule. :(

Edit: Damn bad luck today. All my original dynasties die after one ruler. For example I take Silesia, heir die ill. Duke die later, and on throne come von Luxemburg. *RAAAAAAAAAAAAAGEEEEEEEEEEE!*

I've had Jagiellons replaced by von Habsburgs on Polish throne yesterday :(. The thing to watch out for is who you marry with when the heir dies. Everybody will want to, because no heir + RM = possible claim throne CB. The new dynasty will be probably picked from amongst those you have RM with - choose those with cool names ;).

Slightly on topic: how come a Poniatowski made it to Bohemian throne? That's a Polish noble name...

Maybe they had RM with Mazovia? And Piast dynasty there end and Poniatowski was next? ;) With this bunch of events every year, dynasties end so fast now. One time hunt accident, other heir fall ill. Next time he die, and ruler jump on meid and you got some sux heir pretentions.

It used to be that you got an interregnum after a long period of a regency council with no heir. An interregnum was basically a regency council which would give you a new dynasty after ten years. Perhaps the interregnum has been removed and you just have to wait ten years with a regency council that has no heir.

Do royal marriages affect what ruler you get?
If your ruler dies without an heir, and you have royal marriages, the replacement will tend to be of the same dynasty as one of your RMs.

Not necessarily, though; I don't think there are any Hohenzollerns in 1399, but my Austria game had Albrecht-the-heir die, and the replacement was a Hohenzollern. Which was good, because it means the Archduchy would not face the prospect of being ruled by men who couldn't chew properly.
