Is it a reasonable goal for a Burgundy game?

Having French and Dutch cultures obviously I wish to control those provinces, but that will required a whole lot of diploanexation, wish hurts relations with everyone prety bad, so I'm wondering if the money won't go to waste since I'll never get good enough relations. Current emperor has some 125 relations with everyone, while I have great variations but most countries are white in the "relations map". It's 1480 though, I have some time.

Be opportunistic. If one minor gobbles up another, that can be a way to get a prov without annexation, particularly if the minor in question is one that's been a "bad boy."

Only 2 of them have 1 province, and they're both my vassals and as-of-recent, allies. I had a lucky situation when they were all allied with eachother and one of them failed to pay his loan.. ho well... They're all allied again, only paying some eternal "interest" :D

Early on if your badboy is low and relations fairly good with all the electors, becoming Defender of the Faith can really boost your relations across the board. I once was surprised when my Denmark became the Emperor that way. It's 1000g, but cheaper than sending all the gifts to the electors. (Some of them are real money sinks...)

Later on, just gobble up the minors so that there are fewer electors to bribe. They can't vote for themselves (apparently) and chances are the remaining electors won't like each other much once the reformation kicks in.

I'de really rather not expand outside France and Holand - I'll probably just try to vassal all german provinces my side of the Rhein and keep it that way. Stupid 5-members rule kinda limiting that. But good idea, later on they'll all hate eachother, and with an active Brandenburg and Austria there will be very few prety soon.

Mhhhh, speaking about the HRE, i got a doubt:

Lets imagine that there are only 2 electors existing in the HRE at the moment. France and Spain, who are catholics, got +200 relations with both of these electors. Who will be elected HRE? France, or Spain? Thanks in advance. :)

I got a new question too! :D

After a rather brilliant war agaist England, all of the North Mainland France is now under Burgundian rule. This pleases us much. The war was so successful that even paying duble the normal to troops and mariners, Burgundy is now richer then ever.

The Duke, beeing still tied up in a war agaist the Papal States, wanted to make a diplomacy stunt by claiming the responsability to defend all catholics world wide. However, he was told by his advisers that he can't. The genial but rather misterious advisers will not tell him why, so he can only guess that someone else already claimed the title of Defender of the Faith.
...how can I know who? :confused:

Spain would, since they and Austria get a special bonus. But if it was between, say, France and Poland, I don't know.

If you open the save file, you may either look for something like
Code:
    flags = { 1 2 3 4 } 
    progress = { 0.000 0.000 0.000 0.000 0.000 0.000 0.000 } 
    dutch = yes 
[B]    catholic = POR 
    sunni = DLH [/B]
in the globaldata section, or you can browse the history at the end of the save file for "sole defender" and find the last one to claim it.
Should there be an easier way, I woul appreciate to hear about it.

Cheers! I did this one, and worked fine. It's a uber-lithuania that's eating up russia... ho joy :( Do they loose the title when/if poland anexes, or can is it passed on?

No, Poland won't become DotF when they annex Lithuania (unless they just happen to pay the 1000 for it immediately afterwards). But don't necessarily count on them annexxing Lithuania. My experience is that a successful Lithuania often diplo-vassalizes and late diplo-annexxes Poland before the event fires.

Neither had time to happen.

I did find out, however, that to make a country loose the Title you need to force it to loose a war individualy - loosing because all his alliance lost isn't enough.

I would hazard a guess that it's the first one to show up in the savegame file. That is how it works in EU1.

Many of the german provinces are really good, and the only downside of wrong-culture is difficulty in converting them. The penalty on tax income is only on tax income, not production/trade taxes, so it's only a minor effect with high TE/PE since many of those provinces produce wine, iron, copper, etc. Moreover, their big manpower means that after nationalism fades off you'll get some of it too.

So, go for french and dutch provinces first, but diplo-annex your way into Germany too. And Italy, while you're running. Build Charlemagne's Empire anew. ;)

Filthy conquerers - I'll only bother Germans and Italians if they mess with my german vassal or think I'm not good enough to own Genova. And to smash to Pope of course. Don't like too big an empire. (don't kill me for saying it) :(
