I finally reached 1220 in my current Russia playthrough. And you know what this means: Mongol hordes left and right.

I managed to destroy the Golden Horde before they were able to combine their armies .

What bothers me now is the Ilkhanate. They took most of Khiva and started an invasion of Khiva on me because I hold the remaining two counties of that kingdom.
I'm not sure if I can / want to win this war. The Ilkhanate has a deathstack of about 150.000 men. I can field about 200.000 men. So IF i somehow managd to march them over to where Khiva is without losing too many to attrition I might have a chance to beat them.

But should I? I'd like them to destroy the Muslim world before I take them out. I heard somewhere the Ilkhanate is "supposed" to go after the Muslims. Will they turn south again after they snatched a couple of counties from me? Is there some invisible demarcation line between them and GH territory? I would be willing to lose a couple of counties if they stomp the Muslims to the ground ;)

Another related question: Has anybody managed to get one of the Mongolian titles (GH/Ilkhanate/Timurids)? I've read somewhere in one of the two wikies that you'll inherit the tribal casus belli if you get their title :O

Edit:

And in case you advise me to go after their doomstack: How the hell can it be beaten in an area like Khwarezm? Without ships for me this is pretty much impossible.

If you are a fan of assbeatings, try yourself :D: https://www.dropbox.com/s/f10l1o4muh5xx2o/Russia1227_01_01.rar (no password)

I believe the Ilkhanate/GH thing has to do with territory.

Personally, I'd say it's not a question of winning the war so much as killing off their attrition-less horse-archer doomstacks. Even if you lose, killing off a bunch of those is probably worth something.

Don't forget that the Timurids will show up later on though.

Aye, getting rid of the horse archer no-attrition stacks of death is critical.

Also, lemme guess OP... you were a total dick and had all your armies organized and waiting in Perm long before the Mongols even arrived. Bah, where's the fun in that...

Nope. I rallied my troops from everywhere, walked them there and killed the stacks one by one. It was a pretty satisfying thing to do ;)

As long as they haven't combined their army into one they are very much beatable.
