I never saw a Hungarian inheritance event for Ottomans. I played 5 full separate games as Ottomans.

I meant that if there's a Burgundian Inheritance event, Paradox should've also included the Hungarian/Bohemian/Prussian inheritance events, if they were going for historicity

Its a historical event just like Time of Troubles, War of the Roses, and Iberian Wedding. There was never a Bohemian/Hungarian succession crisis between ottomans and Austria... Mostly because Ottomans were Muslims and Christian Kingdoms wouldn't intermarry with them....

Bohemia was inherited by Austria when King Louis II Jagiellon of Hungary and Bohemia was killed at the Battle of Mohács, and Hungary was split between the Habsburgs, Transylvania and the Ottomans.

The difference between the Bohemian inheritance and the Burgundian one is the first can be simulated by the current game mechanics, while the latter can not. If the Bohemian king dies without a heir and they have a royal marriage with Austria, Bohemia may enter in a PU under the emperor without any event. Burgundy, however, was partitioned in a way that can't happen in game under regular circumstances. Hence why a event is the way to go there.

As for Hungary. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think they were partitioned in the same way Burgundy was. Sure, the Ottomans end up with a third of the territory, but it was though old fashioned conquest, no? No event needed for that either. Not entirely sure about Transylvania's circumstances, though.

An event to partition Hungary like in history would be needed to model it correctly, and would be similar to the Burgundian one. The Ottoman conquest would never happen in a vanilla game, as the AI wouldn't want to take so much overextension and unjustified provinces...
You're right about Bohemia though, but it wouldn't be immediately inherited and it is not very likely to be inherited by Austria.
On a sort-of related topic, an event to model the Franco-Ottoman alliance would be cool, like if they are both rivals with Austria at a certain time and have relations above about -10... basically, I like DHE's :)

actually shiranui, i've played two austrian games and the Franco-Ottoman Alliance formed in both
The event everyone is complaining about here makes it almost inevitable! As Austria you end up with long borders with France and the Ottomans usually (Austria can get missions to subjugate hungary so you end up with a huge ottoman border), so friction makes you enemies with both, they enter coalitions against you very often

Don't worry, France will get those lands anyway come hell or high-water. And with being your junior in the PU, you get an awesome little pet. It's like a trained velociraptor ready to rip your enemies in Europe to shreds while you concentrate on colonizing and making bank. After my PU I had a bunch of nations enter a coalition against me, Burgundy stupidly declared war against France and was joined by most of the Empire, Scotland, Hungary and some Italian states against France, England (me), and Portugal. After the war, the coalition against me quickly dissolved out of total fear they might get dragged into an impossible conflict. I started the game as my first Ironman and was hoping to just peace out with favorable terms, but Portugal came through for me and we slaughtered France by 1450. 300 years later and the World is pretty much Blue and Red with some Green mixed in for good measure.

Well, I agree with the Burgundian inheritance because it happened and happens IG just some years after the beginning of the game, for the battle of Mohacs, it happens almost 100 centuries afterwards, the geopolitical situation might be completely different, so, I would agree for an event of this kind, only if the conditions to reproduce it are really selective, in a way that this event happen only if very precises requirements are completed.

I have played probably close to 12 playthroughs as France up to ~1525. Anecdotally, I can remember this event "not firing" only twice. It almost always results in a division of the southern and western to France and the northern and eastern to Austria. I believe there was one time when I saw Burgundy get broken into smaller kingdoms (Flanders, Hainaut, Brabant) but retain their provinces around Bourgogne.

In sum, I would definitely confirm that it happens 80 to 90% of the time. Not sure if I like or dislike that, but agree it could stand to be tweaked to be slightly less common. Even if it occurred 66% of the time that would be good I think. Variety is the spice of life ;)

Well, there was, but not because of intermarriage with the Ottomans: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Hungarian_Kingdom

The Ottomans favored their Hungarian vassal candidate while the Austrians had their own Habsburg candidate.

Also the complete blocking intermarriage between Muslim and Christian (and other groups) is pretty screwed up in all Paradox games. The Ottomans intermarried with vassal Christian women (Suleiman I's mother was Serbian) but can't in game. Likewise Byzantine emperors married their daughters to hordes regularly.

If I play as France should I DOW on Burgundy asap to kill the Leader General in Battle or should I let other Nations do this and just stay peaceful?
You don't want to kill the ruler. The ruler dying doesn't trigger the event. It is the event that kills the ruler. If Burgundy enters a regency the chance of the event happening is very very low.

What you want is for Burgundy to be losing a war for as long as possible.

OMG, I just started an Ironman France game:
By July 1449 the following happened:

- First peace with England with all but Gascogne in France reclaimed
- Avigong starting to rebel against papal state
- I am very close to getting Alliance with Castille
- King of Burgundy died and I inherited half his lands
- France became Papal Controller
- I excommunicated Austria

In my france game I just occupied the entirety of burgundy, because it was nearing the 1500 mark and after that you can't inherit it, so I just fully occupied their provinces and waited...I eventually got the inheritance event. =P

Edit: I was worried the event was not gonna fire with me being peacefull, so I looked at the triggers and saw that burgundy losing a war with -75 WS makes the event very likely to happen, but I still had to wait quite some time for it to fire with full ocupation of their provinces.
