Regarding the Balkans in EU4

I was wondering Will the Balkans also get some new interesting additions, new national goals, events etc. since much of Europe seems to be getting some very interesting national ideas, events uniquely their own.

Make it more fun to play as a Balkan nation, make the threat of the Ottomans greater for the region.

Also, Croatia according to some historians was in a personal union with Hungary not a province/vassal of it,
at least not the entire time. So why not make it a state that is in personal union with Hungary?

I hope we get to see a developer diary of the Balkan area , changes made etc.

ps. for a future expansion i would love them to expand the game period until just before the 1st World War.

Well I have never played a Victoria game before, but I will try it out.
Still, I am used to the gameplay of Europa Universalis, the "ease of play". I tried Heart of iron once, IT is so difficult.
There is a place for a game that stretches from 14xx until early 19xx.

For what it's worth, there are EU3->Vicky2 savegame converters* that allow a player essentially do to just that. True, it's not a single game per se, but switching over from EU to Vicky probably works better in many ways anyways because of how differently the world worked between the two games' time periods.

Unfortunately, IIRC Paradox has said that they won't make an EU4->Vicky2 converter themselves, but given this community's ingenuity, I wouldn't be surprised if somebody around here had one out and ready to go practically the moment that EU4 is released


*There are also CK2->EU3 converters. I honestly don't know whether or not there are Vicky->HoI converters since I don't play either game.

It was personal union, I don't think anyone would dispute that. I read that preview where guy starts as Sweden while in PU with Denmark and manages to break free, I'm counting on the same option for Croatian but also any other PU.

I think I vaguely remember playing one of the older versions of EU3, before DW (Not sure which one, it was just a friend showing me the game.), and I think I remember that in that version, Croatia did start as a separate entity under personal union (or vassalage?) with Hungary. But hey, since the PU was never broken historically (Unless we count the Cetin Diet, I guess?) and both kingdoms ended under Habsburgs at the same time, I guess they decided to just make them start the way they now do to make Hungary stronger or something.

So what can we do about this? How do we send a request or suggestion to them? Do they tend to read forum posts?
It´s great that north & west Europe is getting more attention but let us not ignore the rich historical events/drama that was taking place on the Balkans the entire time... Croatia and other ex-Yug nations being the bumper between giants Austria/Hungary and Ottomans.
Also lets not forget Greece, Bulgaria etc.

Hope we get more details on this, sooner then later.

You can always make suggestions, but I doubt anything would come out of it in this specific case.

Probably the smartest thing to do would be to either install one of the mods that will inevitably show up once game is released, or just mod the game yourself. It's trivially easy to mod it to have, say, Croatia as a separate entity under PU with Hungary. Fixing province borders and stuff like that would be a fair bit harder for an amateur, though.

well clearly we do care...:/ I love playing as a Balkan nation, mostly Croatia, its really the underdog position, no easy expansions etc.
But the lack of unique content , events, is what kills some of the joy.

Would be great to have a dev or person in charge comment so we know if we are to give up hope for some change or that we wont be ignored forever.

As far as the Ottomans , yes they get quite a lot attention compare to countries like - Serbia , Bulgaria , Croatia and so on ..
Don't get me wrong i completely agree with this thread but i'm pretty sure nobody will do nothing about it maybe cuz the fact that in that period of time most of the countries above were under Ottoman occupation,rule call it as you want.

They weren't occupied by Ottomans, they were conquered.

I disagree. The world changes more from 1800 to 1900 than 1400 to 1800. War, economy, production, social order, everything changes.
