Refusal of gift province

In the course of trying to make one of my vassals viable, I annexed a province and attempted to sell it to the vassal for zero money, it refused to take a province with it's own core. I'm pretty astonished by this and I'm curious why the AI would refuse such a gift.

Why would it care about that? In fact, wouldn't being in the Empire be, desirable?

A province, especially a core, I'd be falling over myself in happiness to buy, let alone receive as a gift.

Does it have a core from a much larger power on it as well?

It might not want to risk a war of reconquest.

It's probably not, and they will get an event about the Emperor demanding that they hand it back. I'm not sure this is even under the control of whoever IS the emperor, I don't generally muck about with the HRE.

HRE shouldn't be an issue if Holland has a core on it. My best guess is that they don't like your infamy and the game doesn't recognize that this particular diplomatic action should probably not care about your infamy.

I'd guess there isn't a core. Holland doesn't start with a core on Friesland after all, it takes a lucky event to get one.

That looks like a Netherlands core, not a Holland core to me... They won't buy an imperial prov if they don't have a core, no matter how juicy

If you want to force it, just send the offer on pause, open console, TAG HOL, accept the offer, TAG ENG, play. Bit of a cheat, but understandable in this position imo.

Look at the picture again... that is Holland not Friesland

I'm guessing that Gelre's the obstacle in this as it's cutting off Holland from Friesland.

Friesland has a strait connection to Holland.

If they don't accept the province it's not cored. Check it again.
