If that's SP, then godhood requires your western border to be the Atlantic and your northern borders to be Hadrian's Wall and the Rhine-Danube line, not the Alps-Danube line

Besides, December 7th, 1452? I was kind of short on time. I took Croatia, the Papacy, and three chunks of land in the Middle East in 10 years, and that's an accomplishment by itself.

More like really lucky that France and the HRE exploded, in my game in 1235 there are 4 countries in Europe: France, Byz (me), HRE, and Hungary, all of which are superpowerful blobs

You can play more aggressive with the byzentine empire! you have the biggest army of europe and should use it to take back more of the roman empire. Once you have ended the great schism take most of the independant territory or even country by holy war (http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/541822093001032282/1A964F40C0A4CF47414F60E87612D2F09D3A1649/, here is my current playthrough with my doukas family for exemple).

There are people who did better - with the Spartenos (Dynasty in Naples).
I'd actually have to agree with this statement; them holding out against the Golden Horde is pretty impressive; they usually get run over.
That’s not bad (and definitely a whole lot better than the Byzantines did in our timeline). For a future playthrough, you might go for Restoring the Borders. And maybe even adding Provinciae Hiberniae, Caledoniae, Germaniae and Mesopotamiae.

France and the HRE were stable until about 40 years before the game ended (which is something people seem to not be noticing). Then the HRE had an 18 year civil war. THAT was fun.
Otherwise, even when they were stable, they didn't actually do anything.
They had everything they have now except the Baltic blob and a county in "Denmark" at the start of the game. I'm surprised that they didn't form Scandinavia earlier.
