One problem I would consider a major game-play issue, and 2 other "bugs"/problems.

First let me state that I started this game with 1.01 and have since been playing it out with 1.02 patch, in case this is a known issue. (I looked through the last 30 days of the forum but didn't see this reported; not even on the list - so I apologize if I'm repeating something.)

1) No nations convert to Reformed! The Palatinate revolted to become Reformist, but no other nations convert of their own accord. The Netherlands, when created from the nations of Gelre, Friesland, and Flanders, remained Catholic. France appears now to be Protestant (I'm not sure why - I didn't see a message that they converted; likewise Bohemia converted to Catholic, it seemed to occur at about the time Austria beat them in a war - though there was a message that they settled for a white peace).

2) There are some "blips" in the .mp3 files which came with the game - even when I play them in WinAmp. In 3 cases, near the beginning of the songs, there are "skips"/"blips" of no sound within the song; then it continues along fine. Is there a way to get the repaired songs without having to reinstall the whole game again?

3) Graphics:

a) The graphic of the small shield for the French Catholics is wrong - it seems to be in "negative" - they have a white flag with a dark center picture, but on the shields in diplomacy and province ownership, there is some sort of mixed pink and brown background with a white center picture.

b) May be correct, but the flag for Luxembourg and the Netherlands is the same, though they have different shields. Can make it tougher to tell who owns what, especially like in my game they are allied & so fighting together. Is this accurate, or did they have different flags?

The last 2 I can live with if I need to, but I think the Reformed nations issue should be fixed. Anyone else having the same problem?

P.S. Thanks for the patches & the continued improvement on the game. EU2 is great!

I've noticed the skips in the mustic during the 1600's as well. It seems to be two tracks, I need to fire them up in my player and find out which of the two it is. But your right, it is really annoying, especially since this particular centuries' music is my favorite of the selections available, and the songs that glitch up in the beginning are some of the better ones in this century.

I don't think I have all of the of mp3s you have in my beta version, but I remember a similar bug in earlier patches. I cannot say if it was fixed in you 1.01 version, but my problem was definately fixed in 1.02 (the one available).

check in control panel, sounds&multimedia, audio, advanced (sound playback), performance:

"Sample rate conversion quality" ---> Good (extreme left)
"Hardware acceleration" ---> Full (extreme right)*

* Some people have experience problems with sound, where as there would be no sound at all. In this case, you should reset the setting to "none" (extreme left).

Agreed - the 16th has selections that are among my favorite - and it is a couple of those that are bad.

Viper, those are the settings I have. What happens if I move the sample rate to best? (I'll try that now.) It says it slows performance, but improves quality, which could be the issue here. Or are you thinking it's overwriting the available buffer and thus the slider should be all the way to the left?

A couple of selections make it seem as if there is no sound, but I think it's just dead time at the ends of the tracks.

I'm having the same problem with the blips in the music. It gets very annoying after awhile. Does anyone else experience blipping when you barely load the actual game and its 'initializing'?

I was thinking about the buffer, but frankly, I don't see any differences myself with the silder on left or right in any games, but you could try it.

I used to hear blips in the music, but only after a few hours of play. It was fixed in one of the patch between 1.01 and 1.02.

I'll check my 1.02 now and see if I can find any blips in that era. For me it was only 2 songs that did it, and right in the beginning for both of them. I'm almost to that era now in my new GC, currently 1577 so will know soon. Thanks Viper! :)

That period has a shorter list of music selections, so they can be found just by playing those selections in a regular mp3 player. I had found them but have forgotten which now. Let me know if you no longer have problems - maybe I can just get the corrected mp3's from you. As it is, I don't know how I could just extract those without reinstalling the game ...

The following 2 mp3's are the ones that are 'blipping', both a couple of seconds into start, and still doing so w/ V.1.02.

JUCD_315_16_MistressNicholsAlmand.mp3
SPACD163_31Furioso.mp3

These are both great ones also. :)

I'm assuming since it is only these two out of all the music, that my settings are fine...... am I wrong?

Yes, those also skip for me. Perhaps this will be fixed in the next patch or have the sound files posted for download on the site?

Still the French Catholic graphic is wrong - anyone else having the same problem? And no nations turn Reformed ... although this could be because I started this game with 1.01 and somehow all the religion choices were already set at game start even though I'm now using 1.02?

In my current game, Spain went Reformed. But they are the only ones to do it. Of course, there isn't a whole lot of country selection left in the world at the moment. Europe still has a small amount of one province states, but the rest of the world has generally formed up.

No idea really, they had some events which caused a great many rebellions to break out, then began to switch faiths from Catholic to Counter-Reformed Catholicism then back to Catholic. At some point they went Protestant, but it didn't seem like for very long, then went to Reformed. They stayed that way for about a decade, then began to switch all the way back again, and are currently back to Counter-Reformed Catholicism...... I don't have a clue as to why, but like I said, some of it appeared to be the AI reacting to events. Unfortunately, I have never played them yet, so don't know what they are really going through at the moment.

Oh, and one other nation went Reformed. Helvetia, just before I whacked em. It sucked too, cause I wasn't thinking about what would happen after I swallowed them. I already had 3 other religions in my empire that I was busy attempting to stamp out.... (I never switched from Catholicism), and was just handling it with my sliders with minimal revolt risk. As soon as I conquered Helvetia, I had a real problem .... no more play on my sliders. I wound up letting them sit there at 12% revolt risk for a decade until I finished off the Orthodox provinces and then was able to free up some play in my sliders to cut their risk back down and send in the priests..... it was quite fun having a revolt in either of their two provinces about every 3 months, usually resulting in them capturing the castle right off the bat. Had to sit 30K troops on top of them to keep them under wraps....... :)
