I started a game as Brandenburg in 1.8 as I wanted to test the new reformation system.

It's 1524 and none of my provinces have converted to either Reform or Protestantism, although there are many centers of reformation through Europe.

Is it because the mechanics have changed in 1.8 ? Brandenburg shouldn't become protestant through an event ?

FYI I have been emperor from aprox. 1470 to 1515 and I wonder if that prevented me from becoming Protestant, as in 1.8 the Emperor must remain Catholic... :(

Each Center of Reformation is flipping a province at a time, depending on the proximity of that province towards the CoR. You can see which provinces are currently flipped on the religion map mode and yes, it's going to take a while, depending on several factors (which I can't remember yet), unless you reform yourself. But remember, as soon as you reform, you will stop being the Emperor.

There are a few things to realise here:

If you are one of the first 2-3 countries to flip to Protestant or Reformed, you will get a Center of Reformation in your country.
The first Center of Reformation will start randomly in a county, in my game Protestant started in London and Reformed started somewhere in the top left of the HRE.
Centers of Reformation will convert counties around them to their religion. I'm not sure what the exact size or borders for this conversion is.
You can convert Centers of Reformation back into your own religion (once the religious zeal wears out) this destroys said center of reformation.

So if you want to become protestant or reformed, the best thing you can do is to convert as soon as you get a pop-up of the conversion being possible, so that you get a center of reformation.

Brandenburg isn't supposed to have an event that forces it to convert to Protestant ? I just fear I missed this event while being emperor (I'm no longer emperor for the past 10 years).

I already asked this in another thread, but there was no answer: is it known which factors influence which province is converted by the CoR?

I'm in the 1600s as Scandinavia and a whole of two provinces was converted, which was Orkney and Shetlands, and that was when they belonged to Norway. That despite there being CoRs in Ruppin and Northumberland, and Brandenburg and Ayshire for Protestant and Reformed respectively. By distance I'd say at least continental Denmark should've been converted, but nothing happened.

Now I wonder if I'm just (un)lucky, depending on what you want, or if there might be some factors like controlled cardinals and so on?
