When a reformed center spawns it should not be able to be converted back to Catholicism for as long as it is a center of reform. It would also be nice if the first reform center appeared in a location that is historically accurate in order to allow a better and more widespread conversion to the Protestant and Reformed Faiths. i.e. Wittenberg and Geneva. A reform center should not be able to be forcibly converted to the attacker's religion if it is the capital of that country.

Centers of Reformation are currently TOO powerful, since you cannot even defend your lands against them, even if you take both Religious ideas and embrace the Counter Reformation, which the developers have acknowledged if memory serves. I think you might think that the benefit of being a Center of Reformation lasts only for so long, it doesn't. Removing the opportunity to remove them from the map will first, be rather since the Protestants and Reformed faiths couldn't even protect their provinces, why should they arbitrarily be safe from conversion, period, second, just not be fun.

The game also does already sort of "move" in the right direction with where Centers of Reformation will appear, although Centers of Reformation are more gamey then they were actually a real thing. It's not perfect and doesn't account for the player, but it's more fun not being perfect.

And finally, I do believe they should be able to convert capitals, as otherwise they couldn't convert many of the HRE minor nations, which would be a severe hindrance to the Reformation.

No they are not too powerful, on the contrary they do not have near the power they should in order to historically represent the spread of Protestantism in an accurate way. For example frequently in game at least 2 reform centers get squashed with in 50yrs of spawning.

That's personal bias. I can confirm that I've seen the Reformation destroy Catholicism, without my help. I've seen it take over completely, be eradicated, or split the world in a way somewhat similar to how it did historically. If no one ever saw it succeed, there would be an issue, but there are a good number of stories of successful reformations, on this forum alone.

I've never had a very "historical" outcome with the reformation, but my main beef is that if Reformed is dominant in the empire, Protestant will still be the official faith after the Religious Wars . So there is no winning with reformed faith. I think whichever religion is more widespread within HRE territorry, should be the leader of the Religious League. But I've gome completely off topic.

As for CoF, I proposed before, having Centers of Counterreformation, which could be limited, with 1 appearing in the Papacy by default and another in the first nation to embrace it. This would at least give the same benefits to catholicism though on a smaller scale, since having all Europe from the start is advantage enough.

It's not a personal bias when every time I play the game, the reformation will die out if I myself do not become Protestant in order to help it.
