The Redalert Mod is "inspired" by a popular RTS from the 90s that was re-released as freeware a few years ago. It aims at providing a similar atmosphere and storyline, but will take some liberties in the interpretation necessary to make it work as Grand Strategy. It is currently in its Alpha phase, so expect it to be somewhat unpolished.

A short summary of the story (for those who don't know the original):
After the Second World War, a research group around Einstein develops the Chronosphere, a time machine and/or teleportation device. They use it immediately to eliminate Hitler before he could rise to power in Germany. This allows the Soviet Union to grow unconstrained, and now Stalin threatens to overrun Europe...

Features:
- A Redalert Campaign allowing to replay the first game of the series from a Grand Strategy perspective
- A Prologue Campaign that tries to create the starting situation from the world in '36
- A Battle Scenario that lets you get straight to the action
- A reworked Tech Tree extended into the 70s, with Land Doctrine and Secret Weapons almost completely overhauled
- Submarines reworked to make them a viable alternative for the Soviet Navy (inspired by CORE)
- Some well-known characters from the game
- Somewhat plausible ministers for a democratic Germany in the 40s
- New units and brigades (e.g. Mammoth, Tesla and Chrono Tanks or Ballistic Missile Subs)

Download Link:
Alpha 1.0 (DIIC)
Alpha 1.1 (RJDD)
Alpha 1.2 (KHAD)
Alpha 1.3 (DGLF)

Installation:
The mod is made for use with JSGME (that's why it's so small). Getting it to work with moddir might require some tinkering.
It can also be copied manually over a fresh AoD install, but the old .eug files in the scenarios folder and the .ai files for Nationalist Spain should be removed first.

Heated Battle in Central Europe:

New Secret Weapons:

Still to come:
- More gfx, like models, tech images, leaders...
- Campaigns for the game's sequels, including one featuring the Empire of the Rising Sun more prominently
- More events following the Redalert Storyline

Version History:

Alpha 1.1:
- Removed Hindenburg (dead by then) and remaining traces of Hitler (Chief of Army)
- changed German unit names associated with the Third Reich (like SS and Volkssturm)
- added Stalin's death when Moscow is captured (with some chance of surrender) and a later BP-like surrender event

Alpha 1.2:
- More Events from the canonical Storyline (Rescue Einstein, Kosygin defects/Dark Horseman)
- German government in exile
- Japan uses the Soviet attacks as a distraction to expand its empire
- Rebalanced starting positions and AI (more IC to Allies, weakened Romania, India less suicidal, Sudan more neutral)

Alpha 1.3:
- Modified Nuclear Weapons Tech to account for AI ignoring what reactor levels it can build
- Added a battle scenario without events or diplomacy, focusing on the action (Allies vs Soviets and USA vs Rising Sun)
- Reworked the VP distribution (based on Mr_B0naparte's suggestions)
- Added Von Esling and Stavros as Tech Teams (making Guderian and Papagos redundant)
- Added Soviet Civil War if Stalin dies in office, bringing Alexander Romanov to power (for the sequels)
- Reworked event chains for Allied and Soviet victory

Hey I just installed this mod over AoD 1.08 and there's a lot of duplicate scenarios that will cause a CTD if you decide to select them. The 1936 prologue and 1946 scenario work fine however.
The other most obvious bugs I encountered were that Hitler is still available as chief of the army and von Hindenburg as head of state if Germany decides to go paternal autocrat in 1946.
I didn't have much time to play yet but it certainly looks like lots of weird fun.

Yup, copying it over AoD does not work perfectly, that's why I suggested JSGME. There are some files labeled *.*-remove which tell JSGME to move *.* out of the game directory when installing the mod. If you copy the mod over a clean install, you need to delete those manually. Off the top of my head, these are exactly the *.eug files in the scenario folder, except for the 1936 and 1946 scenario. All remaining traces of Hitler should be removed of course. EDIT: Hindenburg too. Dunno why I messed that up, he shouldn't even be there in the first place.
Also: Welcome to the forum!

I've seen so many Red Alert mods come and go over the years, even helped work on one back in the day, I wish you the best luck with your mod mate!

What kills them, usually? I'm studying a few of the failed projects right now, and I haven't found a good reason yet.
EDIT: Also, the next patch is up.

I think it's that the lead modder loses interest in the mod, and it just dies with that.
