Raeder's Kriegsmarine should have learned by now not to challenge the unquestionable might of the citizen-sailors' proletarian navy. Hopefully the Sovietsky Soyuz will be able to continue its magnificent career against the imperialists in London and Washington.. seeing that they are so eager to pry into the archives of the Red Navy.

Jedrek - Thanks! IIRC her name was translate with Google so it's no surprise it's wrong :eek:o

Stuyvesant - The strategic difference can indeed be seen, but wouldn't focus the main difference on the Denmark/Hamburg front. The way I see it, forcing Germany into further IC heavy ship construction was the most important effect. That meant they had less to invest on Aircraft and Tanks, which was compensated by high-manpower, low-IC infantry. And in a clash of manpower, the USSR wins by far.

RGB - Blocking the access to Copenhagen, yup. Well, in theory anyway, we all know it's meaningless for the game, but RPing is RPing.

Ayeshteni - Yaaaay a new fan! If only he liked good wine... :p ;)

Maj. von Mauser - Oh, I don't know what else is left to be decisive. The enemy is down to 1 battleship (that we know of). I'd say the battle with the Kriegsmarine is decided already.

Avatar018 - In due time, in due time... *rubs hands with an evil grinn*

Lord Strange - Wait, you mean you sink CTFs with uboats or do your CTFs get sunk?

Keioel, Col and Asalto - Many thanks comrades!

Milites - I like your spirit, sailor! They want to know about our ships, we'll show them close up action soon enough... ;)

I guess in my mind a decisive battle would be one where you sink the last BB and 3 or 4 of their remaining Surface Ships.

I agree you have whittled them down, but it has been just that, mostly battle where you sink one or two ships.

Either way, good job.:)

As August unfolded, German War effort was becoming under increasingly unsustainable strain. Finally driven to a completely defensive position, the Prussian invincibility of just two years ago had no chance against the Union with History on Her side. Even absolute genius like Marshal Rommel could not hope to have any effect on the overall conflict.

Given the circumstances, it would be understandable if the Red Fleet slowed down it's own effort, with Kriegsmarine all but eliminated and the Red Army finally approaching the Navy's level of performance.

That was not the case. If the Kriegsmarine was not coming out to play, they'd have to be flushed out. And so an attack on Bremen was ordered, as a stepping stone to take out Wilhelmshafen itself. With the Naval Infantry on the fight and Kuznetsov's fleet support, the Germans folded easily once more.

But of course, a Navy's job is first and foremost in over the seas. That means ships, and August also witnessed the commissioning of the first modern Heavy Cruiser of the USSR, built in Murmansk no less.

The Kirov arrived somewhat late to battle the Nazis, but as a ship built on a once-occupied city, it was a huge boost to Soviet spirits. The days when Finland could occupy our cities were long gone. Now we occupied the German ones, while still growing stronger by the day!

...which leads to overconfidence. Operating without escort on a supposedly clean Baltic, transports linking Copenhagen and the Main Front were ambushed by German U-boats, losing over on division worth of ships before fleeing. The ships were thankfully traveling empty, but their loss provided a major reminder that one should never allow success to make you careless.

Meanwhile, on the international front, the Americans were looking for a moral boost of their own, after the considerable loses in Belgium. They apparently chose Crete to do it, and with great success, even if the isle is by itself of no strategic value by this point in the War.

And a frightened Japan tried to learn more of the Soviet defenses in the Far-East... to no avail.

Back on the Main Front, it was time to take Warsaw.

Fearing a German trap on urban terrain, the offensive was given colossal amounts of resources. it turned out, however, the Wehrmacht wasn't even trying anymore...

Until the very last minute, the Army was afraid of an ambush of some sort. But it never came. Warsaw was under complete Soviet control on the 17th of August, and Poland's liberation drew near.

Maj. von Mauser - Indeed that would be a decisive single battle. But the battle as a whole series of encounters, Battle-of-Britain style, that's pretty much decided.

Pannonius & BritishImperial - Many thanks, and here is the newst update! :)

Not much new happened, for sure, but what do ya want - the kauts no longer want to fight! :D

Woow, those are some Massive battles! 88 divisions to take Warsaw!:eek:o

You are finally progressing good on the Land Front. Overconfidence leads to casualties, but I'm shure the Germans would pay for some confidence, although they still have guts.

Glad to see more ships are still being commisioned. Gameplay aside, didn't you already have a Kirov? In the Black Sea?

The Germans on the east front are so badly understrength that one almost feels pity for them. Haven't you thought about giving them some more manpower, for greater challenge?

As ever, loved the use of propaganda posters, especially the anti-Japanese one.

Another Kirov or am I misremembering?

Always protect your TPs! Once again, it's an incident worthy of the e-boat attack on American landing craft in La Manche and would look bad if it got out.

But I mean, the Americans managed to keep theirs hush, so you can probably do better.

Yeah, I find that as long as Germany has full-strength divisions it's nearly impossible to beat them.
After a while combat attrition wins the war for you, though.

Poland is the hardest part, and Germany falls apart by the time you're at Berlin (in my experience).

Good updates! The Germans are crumbling fast - but the Capitalists are still available! :)

I especially liked this sentence from the opening paragraph:
...the Prussian invincibility of just two years ago had no chance against the Union with History on Her side.
I'm a little rusty on my Marxist-Leninist dialectic, but the inevitable march of the proletariat through history sounds vaguely familiar. And quite appropriate, given the circumstances of the ground war. :)

Pannonius and BritishImperial - Many thanks! I hope I can keep up and not disapoint my readAARs.

Von Mauser - Nyet on the Kirov. There's a Kiev there, but no Kirov.
And I'm glad you liked the monster-invasion of Warsaw as much as I did, too bad the Germans didn't fight for the city more adequately...

Emperor_krk - WW2 propaganda in general is brilliant, and Russian one takes the prize for most avant-garde IMO. The specific poster you mention is, unfortunatly, not WW2 though, but from 1905.
Giving the Germans MP would make it more chalanging, but quite honetly I don't want to. First, because I think it's a realistic outcome from the increased Naval investment they did, leaving them with little IC for MP-cheap stuff like aircraft and tanks. Second, because they're in the way of the juicier Navies ;)

RGB - Yeah, it was all a... hm... an unfortunate incident with old German mines. Yeah, the sneaky bastards.

ColossusCrusher - Berlin should fall soon enough I'd hope. And maybe there will be another West-East race to it too!

Stuyvesant - That was the idea behind the sentence indeed. Would be a cool ship name too, don't you think? The Heavy Cruiser Historical Materialism. :D

Anyway, lads. As some of you may know, I now have a job so there's less time to play, photoshop and post stuff, but it's still happening. I have a bunch more time played, together with the screenshots, only waiting for me to edit it. Keep tuning in!

My first thought was: 'Buran!'

My second thought: 'Who's the biggest of the nesting dolls?' I see a Russian flag, so is that Putin?

The third thought: none of these things have any relation to the Navy. Tsk, tsk, a misguided direction of your efforts, I'm sure comrade Stalin would agree... :p

Putin indeed, followed by Yeltsin, Gorbachev, Brezhnev and Lenin.

Ah, not true, comrade! In fact, that Mig-3 is painted exactly as the ones operating with the Baltic Fleet Air Force. And that's no coincidence ;)

Been lurking for a while, but wanted to say that I've really enjoyed this AAR. Looking forward to your next moves. Is there a breakout into the Med planned? Be good to see you get a foothold in that region...more interesting naval encounters perhaps! I wonder how long the Regia Marina....assuming the anglo-saxon capitalists haven't sunk it all yet!
