In the last mission of this FP, the GD Mechs don't fire until they reach the exit point. Then, and only then, they start to fire at Kurita mechs.
This happens to me every time I play that FP.
Is normal, or caused by some mix of my mods?
I think is strange such elite force reacting that way.
There are certain missions like that I have come across. Missions where you have to escort a Lance or so to extraction. Normally they seem to fight for a few turns, and then a message pops us for extraction and then all they do is go into full Sprint mode.
It's like they have blinders on and all they can see is the extraction.
These are a bit frustrating to me (more so when I first encountered them). Now I just accept it and fight while they run.
Like you said though, they do shoot once at extraction (and an enemy is close enough). Next time I think I will Sprint as well with them. That way we draw the enemy to extraction and I will regain friendly fire support. I'll do this though if I can't handle the enemy on my own though.
I've gotten the same response myself, although I've had other 'assist' missions where the allied lance was a lot more help. The first time I saw this reaction I was a bit stung, but since I was sporting a 'Steiner scout lance' I bore the brunt and mowed down the opfor anyway. I think I'm more annoyed by how overly aggressive they are initially getting themselves into trouble (especially the scouts) and having to alter my 'cover' strategy to keep them alive - d*mn rookies!
In my experience, the allied AI on those missions is buggy.
If you want the GDL mechs to fire on the Kurita mechs attacking them, make sure to treat it like the missions where you have two different OpFors. Once the GDL start firing on the Kuritan Lance, they won’t exfiltrate until that Lance goes down. Once it does, they sprint to the dust off.
Problems arrive when the other lances come in to play. The AI will continue to sprint and take fire without defending itself. I haven’t found a way to get the GDL lance to fight back after the initial Kuritan Lance is destroyed.
