Sweden ; A Time to another Time

cshieldsweden.gif

Karl Xish was confused to say the least. First he was pulled from a nice, quiet life on the warm shores of Le Havre. O, how he enjoyed this place. The climate was in all ways superior to Sweden, the drinks, well, no need to waste words on that. What did Sweden gave him? Cold forts, cold women and , secret to most, cold potatoes. His real passion.

POTATO.gif

But it was not to be. His lands where in war. He recently aquired a advisor known under the name of Seenubpkilshbahtikucuc. Altough the name sounded Swedish he suspected him from being of that despicable land , even more horrible than Sweden....Holland. Below sea level, wet and winters as cold as Sweden with no fur to warm oneself. How that land had produced the most fenominal painters, admirals and engineers would be a secret to him till the end of times. Strangely enough this new adviser didnt even know Sweden had been in a brutal war with the trade monopolist Portuguese and Spanish for decennia. For an advisor he was very badly informed but who was he to question faith?

loesje20ook20in20stockhbg5.jpg

This strange adviser first had to realize the realm was at war. Strange to the monarch but not unforgiving he gave Lord Seenubpkilshbahtikucuc some time to came to his senses. War does strange things to people, and this wasnt the strangest thing Karl had seen in his endevoures. When fully aware of the situation this person said: "This war will not be won by land, we need to control his colonies!" Karl, finding this rather obvious almost ordered the execution of the man. Yet, the following words had never occurred to him "For this we need a transport fleet since the Iberians will always overpower our navy alone". For some this would seem obvious, but for the Swedish king this was a new sight on things. He was a man , educated in the learnings of his grand grand father, how to win a land war, navies, where , he realized , a underestimated factor in matters of war.

A new Time

Swedish armies had to be totally reformed. Earlier they were more land based and had large infantry basis with no fleet support. Now they split in groups of marines and the fleet was split threefold. One to organize troops to NA/Africa, Two to slip it past Portuguese controlled South Africa and third to totally control Asian waters. This, sadly, was an effort that took time. The war was going on for quite some time till the first Swedish troops landed on Batavia.

vest-batavia.jpg

Portuguese garrison (15k?) tried to resist but to no use. Soon the entire Island was under Swedish control. The next stop was Portuguese rich Asian cots, but strangely they were occupied by bigger rebel forces than the general had expected even the Iberian forces to be. So the army moved east to grap some other colonies and waited for reinforcements. The army defending the English Africa cot was foolishly send north. Where it gained far more victories than it lost but left the cot open for Spanish forces to grab it.

Don%20Quixote.jpg

Meanwhile Swedish expeditionary forces relieved the Low Lands from rebel occupation. The army was send to relief England from Portuguese forces, although being successfull it angered the Iberian Monarch and it send its brutal slaughtering forces with an immense Armada to Sweden Main. The island was taken and a small army landed in Finland. This, strange to Karl since he knew it would mostly die in the winter, didnt fasten his efforts to send a release force east. England though, after several failed attempts finally send a naval force strong enough to gain a minor defeat against this formidable fleet. This though, gave Karl time to gather some fleet in Norway and stand ready to move his Royal self to Asia and a big force to Africa to safe his most royal British COT in Africa from Spanish oppression. Also some Warships where moved to the Copenhagen canal ( I forgot the real name) so if Brits would help the swedes once more the Portuguese would be countered.

portugese-banknote-crisis.jpg

While England was doing what it was doing best...well lets not go into that but Karl was going lose in Asia. It took some time to gather his cannons, troops and himself together but once into form Malluca, Shanghai and Ganges (in that order) where gained for the crown. Just before Ganges was taken, his noblty, King Johnash of Portugal admitted defeat. He gave up the more worthy Mexican COT to england and the hard fought Ganges for the Swedish Crown. Victory was achieved, but would the adviser Seenubpkilshbahtikucuc be seen again?

AAR France 1712-1729

After more than twenty years of peace France was once again in a war again around 1715. Austria, the Ottomans and Russia attacked the French-Prussian alliance. Well, they attacked mostly Prussia. France sent Villars with a decent army to help the Prussians and concentrated on getting a decisive advantage in military technology (LT35) before starting a major counter-offensive.

Villars was quite succesful in the meantime. One or two Prussian provinces were recovered soon. At that point it seemed it would be a long war, but things turned out a little different. The English and Swedes joined the war on the French-Prussian side. And Prussia soon decided to give Russia what it wanted, getting them out of the war.

With the Swedes, English, French and Prussians now invading Austria, the Austrian leader soon accepted defeat. Austria lost several provinces to Prussia and Luxembourg to France.

After this, most countries were at peace. Only two countries were still fighting. The French decided to get Piemonte back from the Ottoman Empire. This was not as easy as the French had hoped, as the Ottoman fleet made sure the French fleet could not enter the Med. So only Piemonte itself was easily reachable, but that was defended by a huge Ottoman army and one of the biggest forts in the world.

The French had a plan though :) After getting military access through the Prussian lands, Villars was sent east once again. From the Prussian lands, he launched an attack on the Ottoman Balkans. Unlike the fort in Piemonte, the Ottoman forts in the Balkans were pathetically small and outdated. Slowly Villars managed to occupy more and more Balkans lands until at last the Ottomans gave Piemonte back to the French.

During Villars' Balkans campaign the Austrians had been busy too. They had tried to compensate their losses by attacking the Spanish holdings in Italy and were winning that war. The French ambassador was sent to tell the Spanish that help was on the way and Villars was told to return to France as fast as he could. A new army was recruited and put under Villars' command when he returned. With everything ready for stopping the Austrian crushing of Spain, the French sent an ultimatum to Austria, demanding return to pre-war boundaries. Austria accepted immediately, so Villars didn't have to go to Italy, but could stay the rest of his days in France.

Sweden

Well Sweden was a mf kicking ass now with its new won cot and glory hitting the roof, the question was, what now? Karl XII would some day die young, not at Poltava as he should have but we know why.

300pxkarlxiiathorseiv7.jpg

He ordered to join the Resistance force to help little BB from a multi front war, the whole conflict was pretty pathetic so peace was soon decided. Karl sieged a BB town controlled by his enemies and Karl also won a battle even though he had just failed an assault.

nr304militarhistsw5.jpg

But every saga has an end and some years later Karl XII died a mystical death. No one knows how but his close friends started to investigate. 300 years later, still no one knows.
karl20xiis20likfe4rdnm7.jpg

Peace was now established and Sweden started to make money instead of war. Sadly the trade was not going as good as it had been, Sweden saw a small decline in the late years, but as the new parties growing in the Swedish parliament, a reform was made, no decline in absolutism, the Swedish shall stay supreme.

Rumors says that artillery is becoming more and more important so a new industry has been built up to construct the latest and best artillery.

Research in new musket weapons has resulted in new aim point making it easier to aim on targets.
