Thanks for the heads up on that.

I am trying to alleviate the issues myself. What I am attempting now, as Italy, is to hold off on joining the axis until Germany commits to the historical assault. I'm thinking that because I am in the axis, Germany sees my fronts as a "common" front and is trying to defend it. By holding off on joining the axis this won't happen, and they will not have military access either.
After the panzers are clear of the ardennes, then I'll join the axis and hope Germany doesn't go full retard again. If they do, think I am at the end of the road.

Unfortunately, as soon as you'll join Axis after the fall of France, Germany will send 80% of its army in Africa, no matter what, leaving almost nothing to protect ports and SU border. Front AI is totally broken with this patch. Unplayable. I'm putting the game on the shelf me too...

That is what I fear, and besides that, my plan is still not producing realistic results. Because I'm not at war with the UK, they sent troops from all over the empire and their dominion through southern France to the French front lines.

The result is division spam of the most absurd level. One battle has 76 German divisions against 52 allied divisions. Of course they can't all fit, so in reality it is 11 vs 7, with the remaining in reserve.

Just what has Paradox been testing in order for this to be present??

Remember that these issues are after an extra year of delay and you start to wonder how broken this game really is. They can't have not know about some of these bigger problems - so they may be very difficult or time consuming to fix. I'm hoping a month off will allow them to attack the problems from a different angle and maybe find some interesting solutions. Sometimes a break can help with that, it just sucks that it had to happen now. Because the game really is unplayable right now, either I crush the axis because Germany is just... silly, or I go through the motions as Germany until I realize the UK is literally empty of troops. There's no satisfaction from winning that way.

Well you could always try an early UK invasion...But that requires that you've an excessive number of Nav, CAS or Tac bombers to wipe out their navy...

And once again new doomsday stacks...sorry, but this sucks...19 Divisions in Amsterdam...or 21 divisions in the North...and why does have the Netherlands over 50 divisions? Also DK has in this game over 15 divisions.

And airwar is as bloody as before...i´ve lost in a couple of days 2700 fighters....very funny i´ve to say.

And the US is also in the war and ships dozends of divisions across the ocean directly to the Benelux....

Oh yeah....121 Division from GB and FR in 1939......o_O

Keep in mind the 121 will include expeditionary forces. In my latest UK game, at one point I had over 200 divisions, but once war was over, I disbanded all the EFs, and I only had 40, in 1945 (which is remarkably close to what it should be). Could be the same issue with the Dutch and their 50 divs.

The Expeditionary Forces are IMHO one of the big problems....i could break through the lines in France, but around Paris, i found 30 Divisions from South Africa coming from Brest....the same with Norway. They had over 20 Divisions plus 10 divisions from USA and so on.... There are too many divisions in the world, which 1. slow down the game massiv and 2. you get These doomsday stacks....

I agree, it's kind of like the opposite of HoI3 (where you only got EFs rarely, and sparingly). I suspect those South African divisions would have been 6 combat width (in my UK game, they spammed tiny divisions - still far more battalions than South Africa should be fielding, but it's not quite as bad as the fact I had 70-odd South African divisions in my armies looked). I was just noting that it's not like the UK can actually pump out 120 decent-sized divs all by itself (or, at least, doesn't seem to when run by the AI, I'm sure Secret Master could make it happen :)).

Edit:

June 39 is very late. By 37 or 38 the Nether area should be wiped from the map. They won't have more then 12 units - on top of that WT would be low enough that volunteer forces and so forth couldn't be sent from democracies.

The Benelux is like a festering sore Germany's bountiful arse. Left to long it grows rotten and stale with Limey and Froggey intervention.

I hope, that the modder-community can deactivate EFs...France maybe could get GB-Units via Event...or we have to wait until Paradox is back from vacation...

June 39 is very late. By 37 or 38 the Nether area should be wiped from the map. They won't have more then 12 units - on top of that WT would be low enough that volunteer forces and so forth couldn't be sent from democracies.

The Benelux is like a festering sore Germany's bountiful arse. Left to long it grows rotten and stale with Limey and Froggey intervention.
39 is early if you aim for an at least somewhat historical game.

I hope, that the modder-community can deactivate EFs...France maybe could get GB-Units via Event...or we have to wait until Paradox is back from vacation...

Yeah :-/ I respect that they need a break, but I wish they waited a few days to see if this patch needed a hotfix. As Germany I'm holding off pockets of naval invaders of literally 150+ divisions in one map zone. It's impossible for either side's stack to beat the other, they're just there and that's that. It really sucks.

The early division spam by the Allies is partly due to the WT issue. The West is not supposed to begin any mobilization in historical mode until WT hits certain levels set in the economic laws. Unfortunately the WT blows through those levels at the end of the SCW instead of around when Munich and the End of Czechoslovakia happens.

One of the areas I am working on is reducing WT to slow down the buildup. I have already moved the WT limits for Early and Partial Mobilization from 5 and 15% to 15 and 25% and adjusted a lot of the WT values in the defines file. Also decided to reduce the amount of volunteers being sent all over the world, they were not only completely ahistorical but were kicking WT up 0.5% per division sent by EACH nation EACH time.

Adjusting the recruitable population % per Conscription Law to reduce division spam seems to mess with the damn battleplan coding. If you don't allow the AI to make enough divisions to cover the frontage the battleplan assigns per Army, it will start creating smaller division templates to have enough divisions. Plus I don't know the basis for the population figures per country or what mobilization figures PDS used (they varied per country), so I am leaving that box unopened for now.

Results are looking good in my historical test run so far, WT is only at 16% and Germany is just about to fire End of Czechoslovakia. That will push the WT over 25% which will allow Partial Mobilization for ENG, FRA, and other democracies, and allow guarantees from the Allies to start flying. Japan is the only issue, if it wins in China before 1941 WT goes through the roof. That is inherent in the number of provinces Japan annexes/puppets and the way WT is calculated, can't change that without screwing up Europe. Same old HOI issue, configuring the Pacific War theater to fit into a game designed for the European War theater.

I will post what I am doing here and in the mod forum when I feel more comfortable with the numbers so everyone can use it open source in anything they wish.

Tried running through the changelog but found nothing to explain it - Why do I now have black portraits for Hitler, Goebbles, Hess and Himler? I'm not German, and bought the game normally through Steam. Worked fine before the patch.
