I seem to recall that the United States remained netrual for Red Alert. This is the stated reason why the Europeans were reluctant to help out in RA2. So in terms of the Iwo Jima monument, there could be an isolated war between the United States and Japan while Europe and the USSR duke it out.

I've heard that the allies held out till the rest of the UN could join in on their side (Japan and the US intervened on the side of the allies), and that's what won the war.

I loaded up the Soviet campaign. My comp won't let me take direct screenshots, but I made a quick sketch.

redalert.gif

This is Europe after the first Soviet mission, gassing a town in Poland.

Iceland and Switzerland are the only neutral nations. No distinction is made between Soviet allies and Soviet occupied territory in game, the color change is my emphasis. However, none of the Soviet Republics are shown.

So:

1. Ukraine should not be a separate nation.
2. All of Europe quickly allies against the Soviet threat.
3. It can be assumed that Soviet-occupied countries are absorbed as Soviet Socialist Republics (Romanian SSR, Bulgarian SSR, etc.) Maybe some events for this?

Can we atleast try to have the post ww1 map insted of the post ww2 in this mod?

Yeah, a lot of these posts are already from people trying to figure out how to make the starting setup for Red Alert 2. For instance: having Finland invaded and annexed, having Poland either undergo a Soviet coup or be invaded, etc.

And it's even more complicated than that.

To anyone who still has Red Alert playable, load the mission briefing for Allied Level 2. In the background their is an electronic map of the war situation in Europe and surrounding areas.

Notice that IRAQ, EGYPT, and LIBYA are Soviet controlled!

Iraq and Libya were allied to the soviets in RA2 (Togheter with Cuba) so now I got the reason on how :)

I think the problem right now is that we have quite a few contributors, but no modder/leader. I can mess around with little files here and there, but not on a mod level. :(
