I was thinking about a way of changing some ridiculous things from EU and not make the same mistake in EU2.

Many people noticed whilst playing the game that the provincial recruitation model is flawed. Corny things happen. 40 000 troops are recruited and maintained at a city with 10 000 population. Small one or two province nations have and maintain 70,000 armies (talk about total war, these guys thought of Volkssturm early on, eh? :)) which is sometimes more than my almight austro-hungarian empire can upkeep in order not to have economical problems.

Therefore in order to save humanity from this error and give the designers a piece of my mind, so they can make a better game and in fact become richer I present to you my Recruitation as a National Model thread.

My points.

-Recruitation of troops will no longer be made in each province separately.
-Instead of this I propose an easy and organised way of recruiting troops. Provincial recruitation data and abilities will be replaced by a NATIONAL ARMY REPORT window.
-This report will feature the current status of your army, costs of maintenance, tech level, soldier abilities (compared to your neighbours i.e. Turkey is you neighbour. You have a 2:1 soldier ratio. This means that for every your two soldiers have the same fighting ability as one Turkish, in other words, you have a big problem), number of recruitation centers...
-Now as to the recruitation itself. There will be a table showing you mercenaries for hire in your country, number of vassals/knights (fight for free), number of peasents. Other info will include (if you order a popular levy) number of serfs that will join you once levied and your current ability to upkeep them (this will be represented by a slider, 10000 peasents for 6 months, only 5000 but for a year's time).
-Bear in mind that once your tech advances you will have new options such as having professional army units/regulars instead of knightsm ,militia's etc...
-Where do the armies rally? Depends on tech level: In the Medievil, levies (levies historically became useless in the second half of the 17th century, when regular professional troops were uncombarably better and they didn't go home when they got bored, only when the treasure chest became empty) would rally in the capital, later on: in training centers and finally you can rally them anywhere in your country.
-Won battles and sacked provinces will increase your soldiers will to fight and strenghten your supplies for the army.

These are my thoughts for now. I bet you that, as usual, I forgot about something important, made a lot of typo's and grammar mistakes, sorry, errare humanum est. :)

I will show you an ASCII graphic version of such window in my next post.

New Ideas
-There should be an option if you that will allow you to field more troops than your manpower but then they could only be upkept for a specific amount of time (symbolising the diversion of peasents from fields to the army). This is a good idea if you're small serbia and turkey is invading. Who cares if you will loose x ducats because the farmers are fighting, we'd rather be free than rich!

I hope this is clear, i just noticed it is 3 26 am. Hmmm maybe it's not such a good idea to post these complicate theories at this time of night?

there's already a discussion about this in another thread , furthermore I don't think much will be changed to the GUI for EU2 ATM, as they are gearing up for the beta. Only bugs and balance issues will be adressed from now on (AFAIK)
