The mission cares

It's called recover the coast, not recover the areas. I don't actually care if it's included or not. Doesn't seem that important because you can take it without a claim can't you?

Also, another Argument:
The next mission in the series is "Recover western Anatolia", which does not include Aydin either. So you don't get a mission on it at all. Ever.
